Does this mean the males, females or both ? If the males, doesn't this indicating that the earlier Lawson males were not NA and married "Indians" (mothers' lineage). If the females, the children would presumably have different last names (but maybe not ?). We have a Harper line of MS Choctaw that are always "W" on the census records even the 1/2 and 1/4 quantum. The record of NA ancestry is found ca. 1903 when the family applied for recognition and had to give their full genealogies to the earliest generation. The wife was 1/8 but the husband was identified as MS Choctaw by marriage (e.g. no known NA ancestry) - this is the grandson of our Paschal Lawson.
