If they were native americans assimilating, we could attribute this type of naming pattern to just picking names of friends, locals and other respected figures. DNA does not seem to support this in the male line however if I understand this correctly. Unwed mothers ? Adoptions ? Mother's and Granparent's family names (too many I think). Names like Joseph and Jasper are interchangeable. Some lines use Joseph others not (an early Catholic reference ?). Some lines use Jonas/Jonas/Jonah - same with Jacob and James some not. Robert - same. There is something going on as yet undiscovered. We need to keep looking in and outside the boxes. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
