Dear List, Does anybody out there connect with my JOHNSON family? I have many years of research, but cannot seem to connect the dots from my ancestor, John Johnson to the next generation back. My GG GF wasJohn JOHNSON (1780-90 prob.VA/NC/TN-1854 MO) and his only proven sibling was William JOHNSON (1774-77 prob.VA/NC/TN-15 Jan 1815 Battle of New Orleans. I have a manuscript, written prior to 1923, that states the father of these men was a Rev War Vet from VA. After the war he migrated to E TN (where?). By 1820 this Johnson man, and "some of his boys" migrated to NE AL. I have documentated John Johnson in NE AL in 1832 land records. Also, in documentation from a descendant of William JOHNSON (of 1774-77) it states that the father of William and my John JOHNSON either owned or worked at an iron foundry in E TN that was built in 1784 and destroyed "by the Tipton gang" in 1790. The lady that wrote this documentation is now deceased. However, she told me she remembered two pieces of ironware that had been made in that early foundry in E-TN. These two pieces had been in her family since she was a little girl (late 1800's). In this same documentation, there is a segment that states some of these JOHNSONS are buried in Hawkins County. The wife of William JOHNSON (MAY) have been a BEAN. Her given name was Sarah, and she was b. ! 1781. Also, John JOHNSON'S second wife was Loveth Louisa (Lovie) PULLEN. She was b. 1802 and dau. of William PULLEN (will on file DeKalb Co. AL, 1841). By the 1840's the JOHNSON bunch had decided to move on to MO. I believe this was due to land warrants. Most of the family of John & William then migrated to Texas, Phelps & Dent Co. in MO. I believe John & William had additional siblings. I think they probably each went a different way when they left TN or NE AL. Therefore, I have never been able to determine just who they might be. Common male names in this line are John, William, Thomas, Aaron and to a lesser degree, Henry and Isaac. Nothing uncommon to work with here. I have extensive records on the families of John JOHNSON (who was married twice) and his brother, William JOHNSON. I am ALWAYS WILLING to exc info and data to benefit each researcher. Many thanks, Judy in TX
