She was 18 years old, born in Virginia and both parents were born in VA. She was listed as a servant in the home of Robert and Fannie Ratliff. Other members of the Ratliff family were: William, Mary, Fred, Edgar, Glennie, William (Robert's father); Rerosa Wells (Robert's aunt) and Edwd Ketron, also a servant. I have been looking for this Marvel for several years. I am trying to determine if she is the daughter of Marvel and Letitia Smith White. Both of these people were born in Virginia. Marvel (the father) is not listed in the 1880 Census. As a matter of fact the whole family disappears after 1850 and the mother reappears in the 1880 Census in Hawkins County.
