Sept 1852 Grand Jury Indictment; State of Tennessee County of Hawkins. A certain Ambrose Hopkins, a free man of color, late of said county labor, and not a native of said county or state aforesaid. On or about the first day of January in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fourty five removed himself from and adjoining state unto this said county and state aforesaid and the jurors aforesaid, upon their oath aforesaid do futher present and say that teh said Ambrose Hopkins a free man of color as aforesaid, having been duly notified by one Waitman Frazier more than 20 days before this the September term of circuit court 1852 to leave this the said county of Hawkins and State Of Tennessee knowingly, willfully, and unlawfully and feloniously remains and refuses to remove himself. Several warrants, 12 were in the packet .
