My best friend is looking for her grandfather, Josephus Wilfley, buried Peace Church Cemetery, Joplin, Jasper Co. MO. In trying to help her, I have run across the following which might be of help to someone regarding this family. 1: an obit for C.L. Wilfley, 72 of Golden City, MO who died Tues., Nov. 7, 1944 leaving a widow, Gertrude 2. An obit for Eugene Wilfley of Baxter Springs, Kansas who died in Alberquerque, NM 17 Sept 1937 (could be obit date) leaving widow, Helen and 2 daughters, Dorothy and Doris. Buried Baxter Springs. Also known as Gene. 3. Marriage license issued Gary L. Wilfley to Nancy Jeanne Turnage, 14 June 1953 4. obit: John S. Wilfley, 41 y.o., died 25 June, 1911 at the home of a sister, Mrs. Louisa Soverns, 829 Webb Street, Joplin. Says he died of consumption and was buried in Smithfield, MO by Rev. T.J. Norsworthy of the Methodist-Episcopal Church. 5. brief note: Dr. O.S. Wilfley had obit in Webb City Sentinel. Died Seattle, left Webb City, 1917 6. obit: Thomas Wilfley 64 y.o. died at his home, Lone Elm MO. (north Joplin suburb) Aug. 31, 1918. Born in Buchanan County, MO., but long time Jasper Co. resident. Survived by wife. Burial at Peace Church Cemetery. 7. obit: Letha Hazel Wilfley, died 29 March, 1985 (this is my friend's mother) who was married to Othello Wilfley, aka "Tom"...His father was a Josephus Wilfley. No questions, please, I am just posting these for someone else's benefit. Unless you have info about Josephus, I cannot help you, nor you me:-) Thanks...Linda Storm
