The WPA project is only a index. We do have two grants books with early grants from NC. Then the deed books start with Deed book #1 and continue with numbers. I have never notice years on the books. There are year numbers on the large index books of which there are many for deeds as well as deeds of trust. At one time the old deed books were called Liber's and they used the alphabet. The deeds were later all recorded into the books that are now numbered. There are a few very old grants books where the State of Tennesee granted land. Some people have tried to abstract some of the old deeds from microfilm. If one has not worked with the spelling of the old county names. These books can be misleading. We really do have a very good deed office with records easy to find if you are there. Thank you for your interest in our county.
