Sherry Which files could you open so I can send you that you could not open. I have been doing genealogy since 1988 my Aunt Katie Watson got me started. My Dad made a comment to me "Why do you want to do genealogy we came here in one wagon as family and when we left in a wagon we were still family" I got a laugh out of it. It was about 4 years ago that I did a DNA Test as I was stuck on my Johnson lines. I got DNA matches back to researchers of Michael Johnson who died in 1719 on Tuckahoe Creek Henrico Co. Va. Michael Johnson was married to Sarah Watson I started searching around Henrico Co and especially on Tuckahoe Creek. Well low and behold there was 10 families on that creek in 1680 era that I descend from that were still living together to this day on Hurricane Creek in Humphreys Co. Tn. My dad's statement held true. I have since studied the Mountain, Creek or River that my allied families have lived on and have made numerous connections. I then noted that my families that lived on certain creeks or Rivers who were on the North or South Side or East or West side but they were in different Counties or in a different parish. It was then that I realized these Rivers or Creeks that were heavly settled were being used as dividing lines for Counties or Parish's which seem to change like the wind. They were still living by each other but they were in different Counties, some of these creeks one could wade across and be in another county when they went to visit Mom or Dad. That is why in my reported I place parent Counties or Parish for further researching and cross referencing into other files Another thing was when they moved; is to look at when they filed their deeds and record everyone posting a deed that day or with in that 5 days, as this is the people they traveled with to get to new lands that some of their family was already on. This gives you a Travel pattern to check up on. Always check the Parent Counties for deeds on the Creek they settled and note the names and time the first deeds were recorded as some one their sent a letter back to get the family to come and settle by them. I also am the Librarian for the JJJDNA site we have 80 plus researchers sending me documents on Jonson-Jonston-Johnson-Johnston-Johnsen deeds, Wills, anything that mentions a variation of the Johnson surname, and one thing is really standing out is families stayed together, married together and moved as a Clan. This is on the DNA's color coding at the top of ever report. I was working last night on Tn Franklin CO formed from Williamson Co files, so I could not send it. James Shropshire of Franklin Co Tn is the son of Winkfield Shropshire who died 1816, WInkfied Shropshire is the son of Winkfield Shropshire who died 1798 in Oglethrope Co Ga. This line of Shropshire's attended the Matrimony Baptist Church which lands fell into Rockingham Co NC when it formed. They are first found in what is called the Salisbury Dist. of NC I can not get a time era of when the Shropshire and Allied families arrived there, but they owned lands on Buffalo Creek in what becomes Rockingham NC and this Buffalo Creek flows right out of what was Henry County Va in 1776-1780 where my Hudson Johnson lived father of Mary Polly Johnson married to Joel Shropshire. Joel Shropshire is Seymour or Semair Shropshire the brother of Winkfield Shropshire who died in Oglethorpe Co. Ga. Samier Shropshire went back to Rockfish River with Jane Murrell. That again is a length file as they settled by kinsman there and intermarried again. The Sims -Symes Plantation in Limestone Co. Benjamin Murrell of Washington Co. NC is the first cousin of Rev. Thomas Murrell, they can be found in Henry Co. Va before they all moved into Washington Co. NC. then before that they are Found in Pittsylvania Co which split from Lunenburg Co. The area Benjamin Murrell and Thomas Murrell lived in was also part of Halifax County at one time. They Murrells lived on the Smith-Irvine River Bartlett Simms was the neighbor of one Hudson Johnson of Big Creek. it is his families that made the Simms Settlement in Limestone Co this is also where I found my Patrick Henry Mcelyea. In 1783 Big Creek Baptist Church records found in the records of Bent Creek Baptist Church you will find the first members of that Church one is Benjamin Murrell and his wife Sarah. Also of note is the Symes that you are referring to comes off Adam SYmes whose wife was ? Isham whose sister married William Randolph. General James Randolph Robertson is believed to come from this William Randolph and wife Isham. General James Randolph Robertson lived on Big Creek Washington Co. NC before he and Donelson went and founded Nashville. Now from memory Mary wife of Benjamin Murrell was a Symes which will comes off Adam Symes and his wife ? William Eaton to Brunswick Co and then onto lands of Granville Co. NC ( thies lands will go into other counties when they split) Many notes on connctions on Rockfish River. "To know your neighbor is to know your Kinsmen" This is very true prior to 1860 and the War between the States. A lot of knowledge can be gained when you study the LAND our fore fathers came too as they came there with kinsman. Tony L. Johnson

Cousin Greetings I am gathering a lot on the DNA Families of Great Grandpa Eli Thomas Curtis. Ruth Gavett was my point of contact DNA Project is here http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Curtis%20DNA%20Data%20Base/<http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Curtis%20DNA%20Data%20Base/> If you want to read some very lengthy files on HOW OUR Joint families are connected I will be glad to send. >From a Math prospective with the Counties of NC breaking up the allied families of Johnson-Johnston-Curtis-Hatcher-Stoval-Rentfo Landrum or Landon-McElyea-Boone-Combs-Murrell-Fields-Matlock-Shelton-Sim or Symes-Minor are in two Counties of NC prior to the splits in Counties they are and Rowan County NC (Roan) County and Granville County NC Here is but a few of the inter connections and how they connect: My Notes: Daniel Boone comes off the Same Royal Lines as General James Randolph Robertson. All the Randolph men of Colonial Virginia are descendants of Sir Humphrey De Bohun. Which include President Thomas Jefferson of Tuckahoe Creek. Tuckahoe Creek is where my and Pegs matching DNA is fatherest Traced back to one Michael Johnson died 1719 who married to Sarah Watson. Tuckahoe Creek and its water ways has many of the families of Williamson Dickson, and Humphreys Co. fore fathers on it: Benjamin Hatcher, Edward Hatcher, Thomas Cocke (LTC RICHARD COCK and Doodes Minor cousin lines of Gen. Washington),Gilbert Elam, Benjamin Ward, William Randolph, Charles Hudson, William Burton, William Pope (Pope families of Gen. Washington) Henry Trents family of Richard Cox, Charles Hudson William Witt and brother William Witt, Jane Valentine married to Peter Ware, Leonard Henley, Thomas Murrell Sr. These Lines of Sir Humphrey DeBohun are also connected to the De Montague Lines which have some of the descendants of LTC Richard Cocke of colonial Virginia in them, which include The Doodes Minor families and President George Washington and his wife Martha Dandridge whose cousin is married to Patrick Henry who was first married to a Shelton whose family is married to the Medlock-Matlock families of Humphreys and Dickson Co Tn. Of note is the Dandridge familes were married to the Custis- Curtis families of Colonial Virginia. Patrick Henry's borhter was Capt. John Symes whose cousin was Adam Symes married to an Isham whose sister was married into the William Randolph Lines of Tuckahoe Creek. Adam Symes off spring are the Neighbors of Hudson Johnson when he bought his lands in Washington Co NC now Hawkins Co. Tn (James Bartlett Simms. Whose families are in Rev. Thomas Murrells Church on Big Springs. Colonel Donelson (Donaldson) is found also connected to General James Randolph Robertson also "reported" to be a William Hatcher descendant. Col. Donaldson son Stokley Donaldson sold lands in Carters Valley to Hudson Johnson in 1783. Hudson Johnson-Johnston settled on Big Creek with Rev. Thomas Murrell. This is the Creek James Robertson and wife Charlotte Reeves (Rives or Reaves) lived on before founding Nashville. Of Note is Hudson Johnson resettled on Bartons Creek where General James Roberston at one time owned the Iron Furnace there. Also of note is the trade George Rive is who Charolette Rives is reported to descend from. One needs to look at Cross connections there to the Henley Families. Leonard Henley Bullock, is off the Lenoard Henley families associated with Tuckahoe Creek Johnson and allied families in 1744. Lenoard Henley Bullock was the neighbor of the William Payne Jr Families. Leonard Henley Bullock is also a cousin lines of Susannah Turner married to Terisha Johnston of Nut Bush Creek Mecklenburg Co and Bute CO NC. The cousin lines of Lenoard Henley Bullock are also found on Nutbush Creek they are Lenoard Henley Sims and Lenoard Henley Bullock. This is where we find John Johnson buying lands on Nut Bush Creek from John Robertson ( Father of Gen. James Randolph Robertson) in Brunswick CoVa. Terisha Johnston, Stephen Johnson and John Johns sell these lands. Terisha Johnston is the fore father of Len Henley Johnson of Huumphreys Co. Tn. and yes he gets his name from Len Henly of Tuckahoe Creek. ----- Original Message ----- From: Joan Pruett<mailto:jpruett419@bellsouth.net> To: Tony L Johnson<mailto:TonyempireOre@msn.com> Sent: Sunday, June 21, 2009 1:07 PM Subject: Curtis and Hatcher families of Humphreys Co., TN Tony, I saw your message in the Williamson Co., TN, digest, and believe we may have corresponded several years ago. I am a descendant of the Eli Thomas Curtis, Joshua Curtis line in Humphreys County. Joshua's wife was Martha Hatcher, daughter of John Hatcher and Henrietter Landrum. Your posting mentioned Curtis and Hatcher DNA projects. Can you tell me who is in charge of them? I do not know of any male Curtis or Hatcher descendants but am interested in comparing my personal information about both lines. Joan Pruett
Just wanted to tell Hord family poster that it was with real pleasure that we knew, Eldridge (Bucky) Hord. Bucky was an Annapolis graduate and so was his lifetime friend and ?my cousin, Henry (Pat) Richardson. Bucky came to a couple of our reunions in Rogersville. The Richardson, Hord and??Ellis family?associations pre-date the Civil War. Anyway your relative, Bucky Hord, was a friend enjoyed by all (well most all anyway) Charles Ray Richardson -----Original Message----- From: tnhawkin-request@rootsweb.com To: tnhawkin@rootsweb.com Sent: Sun, Jun 21, 2009 3:01 am Subject: TNHAWKIN Digest, Vol 4, Issue 131 Today's Topics: 1. Also in this company was William Bailey, who probably became his father in law. Source: Tennessee State Archives microfilm of War of 1812, book 1, number 26-G-2-2 In 1815, In Hawkins County, TN county deeds register, James Segine transferred a deed to David Harmon. Book w, page 424. In William, "Flea Buck" Bailey's will, dated 30 May 1828, David Harmon is mentioned as the husband of a beneficiary, Sally Dougla Harmon. His daughter, Jude Harmon, was also mentioned. The 1830 Tennessee census shows David married with 6 children. He shows to have been married to Sarah Bailey, daughter of William Bailey. (Source: Ancestry.com) The 1840 Illinois census shows David living in Johnson County, IL, with one female between 5 to 10 years old, another between 20 to 30 years old, 2 males under 6 years old, and 2 males between 5 and 10 years old. According to the same census, Sarah is shown as the head of the house in Hawkins County, TN. David Harmon was married to Martha Eubanks on Feb 11, 1847, in Johnson County, IL. According to the 1870 Missouri census, David & Martha resided in German Township, BolIinger County, MO. David Harmon must have died before the census was actually taken in 1880. In this census, Martha is shown as the head o the houshold and a widow. She lived in Bollinger County, MO. Don't look for a will in Tennesse, since he died in Missouri. Sue, This is your "Ballard" cousin. The Shelby County site is great, but your dates are on the edge. I you don't find them in the index, you will have to ask the State Archives to look for them. I think that the online index only goes to 1928. Unfortunately, this index only goes to 1928- leaving quite a gap. I will be going to Nashville later this summer and will be happy to look it up for you if you cannot find it on either index. I have family in Hawkins county. This is where Delphia Ballard moved after she married Thomas Coldwell. My Beals family is here also.
