Vernon I most certain want a copy of your works, I was again on your web site in the last night or two on some other families that connect. I wish I could remember which ones I was reading about have to do a search on my files for you LOL. I know I pasted some more notes and placed you as the author. Here is one you provided for Toby Turner Written on May 7, 1793 and proved on April 19, 1802: In the Name of God Amen, I Terisha Turner of the County of Amherst and State of Virginia Did we share Rockfish River Files? Which show how the Shropshire families that are living by Terisha Turner of Rockfish River: whose grand daughter Susannah Turner was married to Rev. War Vet Terisha Johnston's whose families are found in Humphreys Co. Tn. ( Lee Henly Johnson) ( The name Len Henly Turner, Len Henley Bullock start in 1720-1730 Leonard Henley is the Neighbor of Thomas Murrell the fore father of Rev. Thomas Murrell who leads people from Henry Co Va into Big Creek and Carters Valley in 1782 era. Terisha Johnston is selling the lands of Nutbush Creek to John Johnson in Mecklenburg Co with Stephen Johnson and a John Johnson. These lands were bought from John Robinson ( Robertson) father of General James Randolph Robertson who with wife Charlotte Reeves ( Rives or Reaves) lived on Big Creek Washington Co NC ( Lands now in Hawkins Co TN). Nutbush Creek is on the NC and VA Lines some folks in Va other in NC. This Nutbush Creek is first in Brunswick Co Deeds to Mecklenburg Co Deeds, and in I Think Granville Co to Bute Co NC deeds to Warren Co. NC then current County of Vance. (Where we find it today underwater as a damn) I also have reports on the Nutbush Creek Families that you transcribed deeds on. Now to Honeycutt Tn I was noting your report on Shropshires of Honeycutt and one of the researchers that is monitoring this list you had a William Fisher and John Smith subscribing to a Shropshire deed. Did you get that Deed full transcribed. Then back to you reports on Warren County: are you aware that 1774: RICHARD HENDERSON AND THE TRANSYLVANIA COMPANY purchased the lands that are now Hawkins County Tn. one Len Henley Bullock was a partner in this Company. He is a Descendant of Terisha Turner the ancient. Hi Tony - For your info. I agree. Have been doing research for 60 years... never charged anyone for even mailing a copy. I thought these sites were for exchange of information. I've many family connection's to Hawkins County, i.e. Amis, Mercer, Phipps, Price, Longs, Tucker, Shropshire and other's.... have always been glad to send anyone my records on those families. I know one time years ago you provided info re Shropshire that I wasn't aware. Other's have done the same. J. B. Arnold of Longs Bend was a willing participant in sharing. In anycase, I'm about finished with 14 books re Hawkins County connections/lineage. They will all be put on my web site and/or sent to anyone who request them. Jack, Yes, thank you, it is my mistake. Fisher's Creek would have been in the 1836 Civil Tax District 9 rather than Civil District 4. The top of Clinch Mountain formed a boundary between districts 4 and 9. It is Fishers Valley that appears to lie within the geographical area of the political Civil District 4. There were no Fisher surnames listed in the 1836 Tennessee Civil District 9 Tax List for Hawkins County. I have now found an email from Don Fisher in the year 2000 archives of the Hawkins County, Tennessee Mailing List. Don said that he is a descendant of William and Sarah Morris Fisher and that they had lived on Stock Creek near Rogersville. Hi Roberta. I also used Google Maps to locate where the Scisms lived in McPheeters Bend. Amazingly it is Scism Road. Still don't know much about them and anything prior to 1802. Hello, I am looking for any info on George Lee, buried in Carpenter Cemt. (Hawkins Co., near Spruce Pine). He was married to Rachel Carpenter. They had a daughter Jessie Lee (my great-grandmother), she is buried at Bethesda in Morristown. I cannot find anything on George Lee other than muster roll cards from civil war. He was with the 2nd N.C. Mtd Inf. Co. A and has a GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) stone with no birth or death dates. Also on Rootsweb they have Jessie Lee listed as Jessie Leed which throws everything out of order. Jessie married Salamis McCarver. I have a copy of microfilm of her obituary listing her parents George and Rachel Carpenter Lee. ANY HELP OR INFO WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Kevin Witherell Morristown, TN

They lived there until around 1869/70 when they moved to Dent County, Missouri. Reuben was born in 1818 to a James Cope. There is some dispute who his mother is. Story goes that he was the illegitimate son of Margaret Vaughn and not Elizabeth Hammonds Cope. Does anyone have any reference to support or deny this claim? Jane Brock Cope was the daughter of James Brock and Sarah Price Brock and is said to be part Cherokee. I have a photo of her taken around 1870 where she has on a indian beaded dress. She had a sister, Manerva who married Eli Carpenter. To my knowledge, they lived out their lives in Hancock/Hawkins county area. Any information on them would be appreciated. Dry Valley where Henry Fisher's Sr. farm was located is on the North side of Clinch River on Big Ridge, this today is in Hancock County, near the Scott County, Virginia line. Fishers Creek is in Hawkins County on the south side of Clinch Mountain, about 8 miles From Rogersville. I descend from two daughters Henry and Happy Riddle Fisher, Catherine who married Andrew England and Nancy who married James Hurd. I don't know of a connection between these two Fisher families. Tony, The Fishers who lived on Fisher's Creek probably were the family of Henry and Happy Riddle Fisher. Fisher's Creek as well as the death place of Henry Fisher (died 3 Feb 1839 at the site called Dry Valley, Hawkins County) are in the geographical area that appears to be the 1836 Civil District 4 of Hawkins County as described in the publication written by James L. Douthat and published by the Mountain Press, Signal Mountain, Tennessee, 1993. Henry and Happy Riddle Fisher are not the parents of Hudson/Hutson Fisher born 14 Jul 1806 although identified as such a few years ago. Henry is buried in Hancock County, Tennessee. Tony, since you're interested in the people living along the creeks, I thought these additional property transactions might be interesting to you and others: 1847 - Hawkins Co, TN: James P. McCarty to Jacob Armstrong on 9 Sept 1847 (registered 3 Jan 1848). Peter Smith got 4 judgments against Alexander Armstrong before Lemuel White, JP on 19 July 1842. Levied on land adjoining Wm King, West Hayworth and others and on which Alexander lived. Another 2 judgments by R. G. Fain and Brothers. Land sold on 17 Dec 1842 to Richard G. Fain and Jacob Charles for $25. On 9 Sept 1847 Jacob Armstrong paid all debts against land. I gave you this one already: May 22, 1848 Land entry granting Jacob Armstrong 106 acres on the south side of the Holston River on the waters of Dodson's creek adjoining lands of William King. Also mentioned is I. Thrasher, A. Kelley 1849 -Jacob Armstrong sold land on Dodson's Creek to Wm King (both of Hawkins Co, TN) on 10 March 1849, the land being that which Jacob M. Charles and R. G. Fain bought at Sheriff's Sale as the property of A. Armstrong "by and assigned to Jacob Armstrong"

Rogersville is just across the Holston River from Dodson Creek. Here's a map I made to locate some of my ancestral lands and Dodson Creek is marked. I wonder what the cargo was that was seized by the Spanish Commandant at Fort Natchez? Is Rogersville near Dodson's Creek? I can't seem to find a good map online.
