His charges were all misdemeanors until today, had one where he is charged with perjury. He has stolen a dress pattern and it was proven he did not get the dress pattern where he said he did. So now he has this perjury charge. The dress pattern was stolen from Mrs Malinda Lawson.

This was in Scott County VA and Sullivan County TN. His parents were never heard from again. If this rings bells with anyone please let me know. Ernest

I have some information on the DEVANEY's (could always use more), but nothing on the ROBINSON's. My father was an only child, but I do not know about his father. Thanks.

It can only be inferred from the Court documents that he was the son of Christian Pearson Jr. John Alfred Murrell was born after the divorce was in progress and after 1820. However, there is no mention of his or her name in the court documents that I have seen. It is also possible that James renamed the child. We have several examples of that in Hawkins and Hancock Counties. The Burton court documents that were posted earlier indicated that Lucinda Murrell was the half sister of John Alfred Murrell, which seem to support the idea is the child she dropped off--unless James Murrell remarried, but there is no record of it in the court records or in the census. Another interesting point is the mention of an SP Murrell. The death certificate of Joseph "Joel" Murrell who married Martha Lawson and is traditionally the son Pleasant G. Murrell states that his parents were Samuel Murrell and Mary Lawson. The information was provided by Martha's nephew (Harmon) Anderson Lawson.

He was in trouble quite a bit around 1900. Will Herron married this Thomas Lawson's first cousin Cordelia Lawson (daughter of Ambrose) after 1900. They both moved to Keokee, VA around 1905. There is a lot of mystery about who Will Herron belonged to. But, he matches up best as the son of 1880 Milburn and Sarah Lawson Herron. Sarah appears to be the daughter of Thomas Lawson Jr. Sherman Lawson was the son of Thomas Lawson Jr. Unfortunately, the Herrons were among the Hawkins County missing in 1870.

We know from marriage and census information that Alexander and Martin Lawson came from Surry County, NC, and were most likely the sons of Thomas and Sarah Twitchett Lawson. This Thomas Lawson died before 1820. There were other children in the household of Sarah Lawson in 1820 including a 10-16 year old male. This would seem to suggest that Preston (who married Malinda Willis?) Martin and Alexander were siblings. (David) Preston Lawson did not arrive in Hawkins County until the 1840s. This seems to support the contention of some researchers that the early Lawson genealogies may be very wrong.

If Martin Murrell died without children, he would not have been included on this list. I have seen no indication that he had a family of his own. 2. All the primary names on that list are specifically named as brothers and sisters; therefore, they would all be sons or daughters of James Murrell, Sr. by one of his wives. 3. John A. Murrell is apparently James' son according to this case. I think the son of Christian Pearson named in that divorce proceeding was called "Calvin." There was no Calvin named in this, so Calvin was either dead without children or not named because he was not N.J. Murrell's brother by the whole or half blood. Calvin would necessarily have been excluded as N.J.'s heir if he was not James Murrell's son because we know they had different mothers.

Which one of these was Martin Murrell, who was living with Newton Jesse and Samuel and Rebecca Trent/Burton in 1850 and Rebecca Trent/Burton in 1860? We know from court records that he was killed during the Civil War by Hawkins County men. Newton Jesse brought a murder complaint against them after the war. We know that Martin and Newton Jesse went to Kentucky to join other Murrells in the Union Army. I wonder if he Martin could be Wiley or whether he was missed in this list? 2. Who do the kids born after 1820 or so really belong to? We know from the census that James Murrell was not married in 1830 and 1840. We these children by Barbara Wolfe and her other husband or was James Murrell married to someone else or did Barbara and James have these children? We also know from some court records that John Alfred Murrell was the son of Nancy William/Lawson Murrell and Christian Pearson Jr.

The family is enumerated at FN58 of the 1850 Federal Census of District 14, Hawkins County, Tennessee. iN 1850, Absalom reported his age as 29 and said he was born in Tennessee. The family removed Tennessee to Illinois in the early 1850s. In the 1860 Federal Census, when in Illinois, Absalom's mother Elizabeth reported her age as 84 and her place of birth as North Carolina I'm interested in finding the record of marriage of Absalom Davis and Louisa Fisher and identifying the parents of Louisa Fisher.
