Levi is found on Hawkins Co 1830 and 1840 Hawkins co TN censuses. My ggg grandmother Nancy Bowlin Vaughan is living next door to Levi in 1830 with her husband Wilson Vaughan and children. Levi in 1830 is shown as having 6 children (3 boys and 3 girls) living in the household. In 1840 Thomas Rains is living between Nancy (Wilson is no longer in the household) Vaughan which leads me to believe that Thomas Rains may have married one of Levi's daughters. James Bowling is living on the other side of Levi. Does anyone have any information about these families?

    1. Richardsons
    2. My g gf, John Richardson 1819-1909 came to Washington County from near Hillsboro, NC in the early 1840s. He worked for the John H. Blair Stage Lines. He married Elizabeth Ellis of Hawkins County, July 4, 1846. He was a Mason. He was postmaster of Russellville May 1847 to April 1849. He and Elizabeth moved to Hawkins County sometime after the 1850 census. Her father was John Ellis and a large land owner. They purchased considerable land from Elizabeth's siblings I know all about their descendants and about their life in Hawkins County. I DO NOT know the given names of John Richardson's parents. The 1880 and 1900 census records say John's mother was born in NC. The 1880 census states John's father born in NC but the 1900 census says Maryland. I recently participated in the Richardson DNA test program and find (as I have long suspected) a very possible connection between my John and the family of another John Richardson in Hawkins County. This is John Richardson married to Retta Mann. They are on the 1830 Hawkins County census. Seeking any knowledge of Richardsons in Washington or Hawkins county this time frame. Is anyone researching Richardsons in this area? Please Note, I do not know his parents given names. I know all about their descendents. (relative to genealogy) I need to connect to the John Blair Stage Company or ?????? Thanks. Charles Ray Richardson Raleigh, NC

    1. Gibson/Gipson Family in the Area
    2. holt
    3. Hello and I am looking for any help or information on the area Gibson/Gipson line. My George Gibson was born in 1765 and entered the military shortly before his 16th birthday in Louisa County VA. He apparently migrated to the South Carolina area around the latter part of the 1700's and is on the census in Spartaburg SC only about 3 hours away from Hawkins county from just before 1800 to the 1820 census. Sometime after 1820 he leaves the area and appears with family members in Todd/Christian County KY on the 1830 census. Quite a few members of the Gibson family were already living there when he migated to this area. His brother apears to be a Henry Gibson and there is Jordan Gibson listed on some court records with him as well. We think his father may have been a John Gibson due to Henry Gibson being named on his will but do not know for sure. We do know George, Henry, John and Jordan are closely related. Between 1800-1830 the various members of the Gibson migrated to South ! Central County and westward. We think they are part of the set from the Hawkins county area, I have heard there was a George and Jordan there as well and seen some land records for a George and a Jordan. I do not however know if they are the same as my set but the time frame seems to fit pretty well. Does anyone have information on these folks? I have more information if anyone needs it. Thank you kindly for your help and have a nice weekend. Robin Holt Mccracken county KY

Green--but it is common to find children living with their grandparents or uncles or aunts in this part of the country in the 1800s. My first thought would be that the Wolfes were the grandparents or that one of the Wolfes was the uncle or aunt of your James N Greene. For example, we have several cases of the death of a wife--the husband remarries--and then he leaves the children by the dead wife with her relatives--parents or a brother or sister. If you could find a marriage record for the county, it might give a clue about the story behind it.
