She married Martin Lawson 28 Feb 1845 in Hawkins Co., her second marriage. Because of this, a lot of people mistakenly have Daniel's wife listed as Mary Lawson, but that is incorrect because Nancy married Martin Lawson after Mary was an adult. I'm guessing Mr. Owens, whose first name I suspect was William - but unsure as of yet - died. In the 1870 Hawkins Co. Census, Martin and Nancy Lawson are living in the household of Daniel Venable. As for the Hicks, I am unsure that Daniel Venable is related to them. I have had some problem establishing the maiden name of Nancy Owens. In some places I've seen mention of her maiden name being Hicks or perhaps Nelson. At this point I have not been able to determine her maiden name. Do you have any other connections of the Hicks to Daniel Venable?

    1. Samuel Wilson with wife Mary
    2. Dianne Ingram
    3. In studying the children of Samuel and Mary Wilson you will note that there are children named Mary and Samuel - after his parents and William and Eleanor - after her parents. I have often wondered about the children named: Willie Bount Wilson. There was a Willie Bount (from memory now) who was governor of Tennessee for a while. Both Stokely Donaldson Mitchell and Richard Mitchell were clerks and their names appear at the ends of a lot of court records in Hawkins Co., TN. Andrew Jackson was just starting his "career". My question has been - why did these people make such an impression that they named children after them? I have speculated that perhaps the Eleanor who married William of Caney Creek was a Mitchell. I have not pursued this line of thought. Any ideas? Dianne Ingram __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Make Yahoo! your home page http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs

His will was proved in Oct. 1841 in Caswell, CO. . It lists his son, Enoch Davis and grandsons as well as daughters, Sarah [Haddock] Nancy, Elizabeth and Lucy [Montgomery] . 1. The Mary Ingram who married Samuel Wilson
    2. Dianne Ingram
    3. I have been trying in vain to find my oldest Ingram. Since his son Andrew Ingram purchased land in 1791 in the Hawkins Co., Tn. area I researched the early Ingram's. There were two William Ingram's. The early one had many acres of land - mostly in White County and some land on Caney Creek. This man seems to have married a person named Eleanor. She is listed as a widow in the 1800 Pres. Church records. I have only been able to find Thomas as an heir when this man William died. Thomas gave his sister Eleanor Criner 200 acres of land and some of old man William's land was next to a Mary Ingram. From what I have been able to piece together the children were: Mary Elizabeth b: abt. 1779 in TN. married Samuel Wilson. Thomas b: abt. 1779 married Martha "Patty" Tyree. William b: abt. 1780 Eleanor "Nelly" married Joseph Criner Margaret "Peggy" married James Long. Mary and Samuel moved to Washington County, Ark. Mary is buried in Hempstead, Washington Co., Ark. Perhaps a study of Washington County, Ark. will turn up relatives to find Samuel's brothers and sisters. Just a thought. Enjoying the dialog about the Wilson's. LAWSON, b abt 1818 in TN, probably vicinity of McMinn County, TN. The S. may stand for SHELTON since her marriage license states Melinda/Malinda SHELTON - have seen the spelling both ways on the McMinn Marriages List. Melinda/Malinda SHELTON married Charles D. MARTIN on July 18, 1839 in McMinn County, TN. Melinda/Malinda's parents are said to have been James and Elizabeth LAWSON -- James may have been a middle name and Elizabeth could have been called Nancy. Both parents allegedly born in TN or that part of North Carolina that became Tennessee. William "Buck" LAWSON said to have been b . 1790-1796 is said to have been Melinda/Malinda's uncle -- and could possibly be her father. Have an undocumented record showing William "Buck" LAWSON married Elizabeth SHELTON 1814 in Bucombe/Madison County, NC. It is possible that William "Buck" Lawson was married more than once and may have had more than one relationship. Any info on this greatly appreciated. Thank you - Mim
