Mary Dalton on May 6th, 1853. Mary died August 1, 1871. They lived in Hawkins County. I don't believe they had any children. In 1870 there is a 10yo George Marcum living with them but he is son of William's brother Squire who I believe was deceased by that time. Wm. A.'s second wife was Millia Roberts they later moved to Lee Co., VA and had several children. I have a copy of a ledger that lists a William Daulton, Wm. A either did work for him or vice versa, not much more info just listing of amounts of crops and dollars amts. Anyone know who Mary's parents were?

Jackson Marvin Roe married my gg grandmother's sister - Nancy Elizabeth Dickerson. I seem to remember that Jackson Roe went to Washington State in 1920 and then back to Texas in 1930. He was a Blacksmith in both places. I didn't know of any children until I saw your messages. (There was a son in Texas from Jackson and his second wife, Ellen Larkin.) The Cherokee Indian story has persisted on my family tree but unproven and even one claim was denied by Dawes Commission. I would appreciate anything you can share. My email is melrohs@earthlink.net. I don't know about a Benjamin. I know that Charles Cox Roe married Alice Roosevelt Clouse 2nd wife. His first wife was Gerogia Anne Crawford and they had one son together. Phoebe I knew personally when I was a small child but she was living in Washington then and had come out to visit via a train. I think that Benjamin might have been a slave or someone elses child that they could not take care of or somthing like that, but I am not sure. If you could send me any info I would really appreciate it. Candi

    3. Forgive the cross-posting. I'm off on a tangent this weekend, and I'm hoping to find help wherever I can! Has anyone ever seen a map of, or references to, the original path of Bunch's Trace? A few of us are now thinking it ran from John Bunch's Tavern near modern-day Rutledge, across Clinch Mountain near Puncheon Camp, up Clinch River, and somehow hooked up with the road that went to Saltville, VA -- which would've been used by those bringing salt down into the valleys as we know they did. Here are some references I found on Google, but they don't cover it all: Melungeons Ways Are Passing ... Surnames: Price, Brooks, Klepper, Henard, Carpenter, Altom Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XeB.2ACE/2012.1.1.2 Message Board Post: There are no copies left of the Price book. I also wanted to let the people reading the Hawkins Board know that I have a different Email address now, which can be found in the usual way. I do not want to put it in the body of the message because of the spam email address collectors, but you know how. I have recently decided to try to start identifying members of the other Price lines besides the Henry Price Jr. Line, and would really appreciate being in contact with other Price researchers to help with problems on other lines, especially those that may have left Hawkins Co. Thanks to the wonderful efforts of the Hawkins Co. Genealogical and Historical Society which has published so many of the records available, we have great resources available. BUT, once they leave Hawkins, it's not so easy. For instance, there are Prices that went to Hamblen Co. that I can find few records on after 1930. Now the fact is, there are probably more people with the surname Brooks that are des! cendants of Henry Price than there are with the surname Price! That's because two of the Price daughters married men named Brooks. Other surnames (but certainly not all) that are important are the Klepper, Henard, Elkins, Carpenter, Altom lines. As far as I can tell anyone named Altom in Hawkins Co. is also a Price descendant. Sometimes when people leave Hawkins its hard to know where they go. Maybe by this coordinating of several lines, it will help put together information that will help people on their brick walls. If I know answers, I'll be glad to help in return for what you know on your own family line.
