Sam, Thank you so much for posting that info on the Lawson's. Adele was my first cousin on the Long side. she passed away several years ago and I miss her. I was just going over my notes from her on the Collins line today, and had her on my mind when I read your post. She would not mind sharing her info. We did genealogy together for many years, and I would give anything to be able to 'pick' her brain again. Hubert Lawson is still living but moved to San Diego with their daughter. Adele was a very diligent researcher and got lots of her info from older family members in the 1930's and 1940's. Margaret Mabrey margiesan@charter.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sam D. Does anyone have a picture of the school which was on Bays Mtn in the late 1800's and early 1900's? I would also like to know where I could find the names of the students and teachers during those years. Thanks for any information anyone has to share. Jane artjane40@aol.com

These notes were sent to the late Hawkins County Historian, Charles W. LAWSON, on 30 March, 1973. I'm sure she wouldn't mind if I shared tis with the list. Dear Sir, Some years ago, 3 to be exact, I wrote you and you so kindly, graciously, and generously sent me much information on my husband's relatives for which I was grateful and I meant to send you what little I knew but got sidetracked when I heard my husband was a COBB, not a LAWSON but I'll still tell you what I know! Curren LAWSON - War Service: Company L, 8th Tennessee Cavalry (Union) Enrolled 17 September, 1863 - Mustered out 11 September, 1865, with company at Knoxville, Tennessee. My gut feeling is that it was because of the name of Banks' son was Clem, and the high likelihood that the other 1850 Clem was the son of Hennis Lawson--not because there was a document that stated it. And of course, we have the Clem and Pascal who moved to Ohio before 1850. The Lawsons who are linked to Clement--Clem, Banks, Hennis, Pascal, Edmund, Mason, etc.--all have one thing in common--unusual names for the Lawsons. My own feeling is that some of these Lawson may be more likely to be grandchildren of Clement and not his children. I suspect that Clement and Pascal may be Edmund's two male children children and that Edmund may be a brother of Banks, Hennis and possibly Mason. Banks and Hennis Lawson were in Indiana in 1830--not far from Henry County. We also know that Hennis' son William went to Indiana at the beginning of the Civil War for about a year.

They were in Virginia and family history has it that they then moved into Tennessee and located in Sumner County. Jonathan and his descendants located in Langford's Cove in Limeston County, Texas. I am from the Asa Langford line and am looking for any records on him. There are other Asa Langfords that I have come across but none born in England. If you have any information, it would be appreciated.

There is sufficient documentation to show the two Abners were uncle and nephew. Lotty Johnson was the daughter of Richard Lawson and Franky Hart. From official records, it is likely that Richard Lawson was the son of Thomas Lawson Sr. Thomas Lawson may have been married more than once since his wife Rachel appears to have been somewhat younger than he was.

MY Abner was born in 1833 in Indiana and married a Charlotte Lawson in 1854 in Hawkins County. This Abner is the son of Stephen Johnson and the grandson of Thomas Johnson. The only thing I know about Thomas is he was married to an Elizabeth. He had one son and that was Stephen and Stephen was dead prior to 1854. I have wondered if the two Abners were related maybe uncle and nephew. I just have not been able to locate any proven information on Abner and Thomas. My Abner had a brother named Thomas, probably born about 1835 in Indiana.
Trying to figure out a McFarland who married Elizabeth b. abt. 1800 NC, d. aft. 1850 and the connection to Mary McFarland b. 1805, Caswell Co., NC, d. aft. 1870 m. Drury Keirsey. Elizabeth McFarland shows up in the 1850 Hawkins Co., TN with children Anderson, Sarah, Dicey and John. In 1860 District 8, Hawkins, Tennessee, Robert McFarland, age 13, TN, is living with Drury and Mary McFarland Keirsey. In 1870 District 9, Hawkins, Tennessee, Rachel McFarland, age 16, TN is living with Drury and Mary McFarland Keirsey. Have pieced together the following children for Mr. & Elizabeth McFarland: 1.
