Miss Amanda I am Currently Stuck on Hudson Johnson-Johnston a matching DNA to Michael Johnson who died 1718 on Tuckahoe Creek in Henrico County Va. ( Color coating is Green When dealing with KNOWN DNA matching Michael Johnson Deceased) Hudson Johnson-Johnston was in Henry County Va. with a William Johnson ( 1778-1780) in one tithable year and in another Tithable Year (1778-1780) He was with James Johnson in Henry Co. Va. William Johnson lived on Buffalo Creek in what is currently Campbell County. I lose this William Johnson after 1785. Reason Buffaloe Creek is bouncing Between Lunenburg CO. They live on Hurricane Creek ( Came before 1807). Agnniss Johnson died in 1848 and her estate is administrated by Rev. Thomas Murrell's living son Thomas Murrell John and Ann Johnson : Clues Ann is the Aunt to several DODSON Families in 1850 Humphreys Co. Tn in one of these Nieces Home is a Burgess. Tony ----- Original Message ----- From: Amanda Hulse<mailto:abh_genealogy@yahoo.com> To: TonyempireOre@msn.com<mailto:TonyempireOre@msn.com> Sent: Friday, June 17, 2005 1:39 PM Subject: Rockfish River land documents Hello, Tony, I saw your posting re: Rockfish River properties and your Johnson ancestry. A couple of names popped out at me and I'm curious to learn more. Your research notes mention (several times) Stephen Johnson who ends up in Amherst late 1700s. My Stephen Johnson was born in Goochland County 1739/40 and died in Amherst County 1805 - he was my 4th GG. I have his parents as William Johnson & Margaret Pace of Middlesex County; his paternal grandparents as Daniel Johnson & Agnes LNU. I do not have any data for siblings of any of these Johnson men. Stephen Johnson m. to Susanna Pace had a son, also Stephen Johnson, b. about 1793 in Amherst and died 1856 in Nelson. This Stephen was married to Elizabeth Perry. Their children: Moses Alexander (my 2nd GG), William L., Louisa, Stephen Gordon, George Rodney (another 2nd GG), Sophia, & Sarah were all born in Nelson County. I have not been able to determine exactly where the family lived in Nelson - although I have some data to indicate that George Rodney was once an overseer on the Massie plantation, Pharsalia. SO - I'm wondering if this family lived around these areas mentioned in your message. And was your Hudson Johnson a sibling to any of the Johnson men that I do not have sibling data for? I also noticed you mentioned "Hardwick". I have Elizabeth Hardwick married to John Mitchell. Their daughter Harriet Ann "Harry" married Jarvis Haydon. Jarvis was brother to Richard Haydon/Hayden - my 3rd GG. Richard's daughter Mary Louisa married Preston Hicks. Terisha Turner keeps popping up too. I keep running across that name but have had no luck in linking it to any remote Turner connections I have. Anyway, my Johnson lineage is where I got started with my genealogy research and I've been able to connect with some folks who have been chipping away at it for many, many years. My data on the down lines from Stephen (2) of Amherst/Nelson is pretty "complete". Working backwards from him to Stephen (1), William & Daniel is of interest - particularly in finding some of the siblings to see how these families branch. Let me know if any of this is of interest to you. Amanda __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! I'm Mrs. Oscar Eugene Shanks, Jr. (Margie) and I seek information concerning Shanks, Price, Newman & possibly Hamblen family members related to my husband's Great Grandparents. (Great grandparents) T. J. Shanks b. Feb. 8, 1847, d. Feb. 2, 1928; m. Elizabeth (?) Shanks b. April 15, 1842, d. May 10, 1928. Their graves are located at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, near Rogersville, Tenn. Elizabeth's gravestone simply states "wife of T.J. Shanks" with no middle or maiden name. Does anyone know Elizabeth's maiden name? T.J. and Elizabeth had one son that we know of, Isaac Edward, my husband's grandfather: Does anyone know if they had other children? Isaac Edward Shanks, b. My 10, 1871, d. April 5, 1932; m. Leanna "Lee" Price, b. May 2, 18__, They had two sons: First Son: Oscar Eugene Shanks b. 12 September 1900, d. ______________________________; m. Margaret Keener Cate b. 19 June 1899;d. _________________________ Oscar Eugene and Margaret Cate had 4 children: Oscar Eugene "Gene" Shanks Jr. b. 22 May 1925 Jane Elizabeth Shanks Stephenson, b. 24 October 1927 William Edward Shanks b. 8 July 19_?_ Ellis Price Shanks, b. 17 April 1935 Second Son: Earl Maxwell Shanks, born 1904 m. Reba Ussery Earl Maxwell and Reba had 1 child: Juliana Shanks Helton, born March 2, 1933 We know Isaac Edward and Leanna Price Shanks resided in Rogersville in the early 1900's and Isaac Edward was Tax Assessor for Hawkins Co. at one time. Leanna kept house. Both sons graduated from Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn. Oscar Eugene (Sr.) was co-owner of Heck-Shanks Hardware in Rogersville in the mid to late 1920's. Earl Maxwell Shanks coached football at Ooltewah, Tenn. for many years. I recall my mother-in-law, Margaret said there was a relationship between the Shanks and Hamblen families, but I am on shaky ground about this relationship. I do have a snapshot of a tombstone which I believe was taken at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church Graveyard "In memory of ELIZABETH, wife of THOMAS HAMBLEN, died September 7, 1817 (?) (or 1847--the snapshot is not clear) aged 52 years." I can't imagine why I would have it unless someone thought there was a connection to the Shanks family. Who was Thomas Hamblen? Was he related to Hezekiah! Hamblen and what was Elizabeth Hamblen's maiden name? Sincerely, Mrs. Oscar Eugene Shanks, Jr. (Margie)

From: Carolyn Johnson <mamawcarolyn@peoplepc.com> Sent: Jun 15, 2005 11:56 PM JOHNSON REUNION This is to remind everyone that the Johnson Reunion for the descendants of John A. and Elliza Hensley Johnson will be Saturday June 18th at the Farmers Grove Baptist Church fellowship hall, beginning at 11:00. John was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia in 1814, and Eliza was born in 1824, probably in Knox County. Thay are buried in the old Johnson Cemetery in the "Lost Bottom" area of Anderson County, an area at one time called "Kirkstall." Their children included Jerome, George, Napoleon, Rev. John, Thomas, Mary, William, Martha, Demarcus, Samintha and Richard. One of the highlights of this year's reunion will be the "Family of Soldiers" quilt which has been designed and handmade by Earldene Nelson Miller to honor our men and women who have served in the military from the Revolutionary War to present day Iraq. It includes the name of Joseph Anderson, Revolutionary War patriot, U. S. Congressman and first comptroller of the United States Treasury. Anderson County is ! named for him. Rev. John Johnson was first pastor of Farmers Grove Baptist Church beginning in 1897. There will be a pot luck lunch, fun and games for the kids and probably some music in the afternoon. For more information call me at 865-457-3076 or e-mail me at <mamawcarolyn@peoplepc.com>.
