If you look at how this census taker writes you will see that he makes a curl at the end and just didn't cross his 'T'. In 1845 Hancock co was made from part of Hawkins co and in 1860 John Short was listed there. This Short family is still active in Hancock co today. One of our local doctors is a John Short. I have never seen the name of 'Shorb' in my years of working genealogy.

I have been having so much trouble tracing this family. If it would be possible, could you check the 1860 census as I am trying to trace the migration of the son, John Age 21 in this household and I believe that he married a Sarah A. Parker and moved to the Atlanta, GA area by 1858 as his first child has this as her birth place (GA). Thank you so much for the 1850 census look up. Sonja

She was child #12. The last child was Eliza Caldwell born 1857 and some believe the birth may have caused Hulda's death. Andrew married Elizabeth Smith in Sept 1857. They had six more children making Andrew the father of 19 children. How are you related to this line? I am the Grandaughter of Alice Shropshire, the daughter of Matilda. Polly
