I have just learned of the publication of a new book that may be of interest to several people on the Hawkins, Hancock and Lee County lists. It is about several related families that parts of them came to Hawkins County and Hancock and Lee. To learn more about it, you go to _Lulu.com_ . When you get to Lulu.com you put in the word Delph in the search term box and it will bring up the information about the book. You can order using Paypal and they will manufacture the book to order. It is hardcover because it is so large. I am only passing this information on because I think it will be of interest to a number of people and I do not think I am violating list rules because I am not selling and am also not the author, only telling you where to get additioanl information. Thank you. You are fast. I never expected this much this quickly. Do you know anything about the parents of Hugh Williams? I have an 1870 Census showing Looney Williams married to Sally (Sarah Wise), with a Doratha Sherrod 50 in the household. In the 1860 Census Looney appears as "Squire" and his father appears as Squire. In the 1850 Census, the father appears as Esquire and the son as Looney. I am trying to find out the father's wife's full name...all it shows is Eliza. Is Big John Burton the same John Burton that was married to Martelia Lawson? He said he was told Thursia (Banks Lawson's wife) was Indian (or part) and did not have a last name until she married Banks. Mom was surprised to find the last name "Parvin" (or whatever) on record as Thursia's surname. These are the only two cases Dad ever heard about. Does this mean the males, females or both ? If the males, doesn't this indicating that the earlier Lawson males were not NA and married "Indians" (mothers' lineage). If the females, the children would presumably have different last names (but maybe not ?). We have a Harper line of MS Choctaw that are always "W" on the census records even the 1/2 and 1/4 quantum. The record of NA ancestry is found ca. 1903 when the family applied for recognition and had to give their full genealogies to the earliest generation. The wife was 1/8 but the husband was identified as MS Choctaw by marriage (e.g. no known NA ancestry) - this is the grandson of our Paschal Lawson. There is no doubt that Mormon had a son by Elvy Collin who was named Peter. However, before 1840, there were two separate Peter Lawsons. One belonged to Thomas Lawson Sr and the other's father was unknown. However, there is no evidence that these three Peter Lawsons were related.
