The names male names fit, as they are listed on just about every deed and other legal paper I have found on William Crews. Secondly William and Sarah's daughters are named Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth, Nancy, and Lucinda. Mary married ____ Ward, Nancy married Isaac Ripley, Sarah married Lewis Horton, Elizabeth married Jackson Francisco, Lucinda wasn't married at the time of her fathers will but in the will it stated Lucinda was taking care of her mother, so I am assuming she may have been ill. Whether or not she married I don't know. I do know the Horton's were from Scott County, VA and these folks all lived very close to each other....again many thanks for your response to my inquirey..Val Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I don't have a connection with either the Crews or Wills family that I know of. I have a Horton and Bellamy connection in the Hawkins County area. Lewis Horton mentioned earlier was a half brother to my great grandmother Mary "Polly" Horton Bellamy. I also know well the Bellamy cemetery that has been mentioned in this thread. At his death Jacob Wills owned about 3,000 acres of land. The children began selling it off when the youngest reached 21. tenneva@aol.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Most of the secondary Internet sources claim (or suggest) that Catherine Messer is the daughter of Christian Sargent Messer, and that William Messer is the son of Catherine's brother Michael. But Christian Messer's will does not mention either Catherine or Michael. I wonder if Michael and Catherine Messer are descended from the "other" Christian Messer you have mentioned in your posts. Author: Tenneva Surnames: Wills Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.hawkins/1570.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: William Crew or Crews married a daughter of Jacob Wills. Jacob died about 1795. Jacob seems to have built the Stone House at Clouds Ford. Sarah along with her brothers and sisters sold of parts of the land they inherited from their father in Hawkins County, Tennessee and Scott County, Virginia. This looks to me as iron clad proof of her father. I don't know when Wills aquired the land the Stone House was built on but I am certain the property was in Virginia when Tennesse was formed since the location, today in Sullivan County, Tennessee, would be north of the Walker Line. That means you need to look in Washington County, Virginia records for more information. For information on the Walker Line, Google the "Squable State." Lewis Horton and also lived in Delta Co, Tx.... I was told these three families moved to Tx at the same time... this is my line 4. William Henry Crews - have no info on him as yet 5. Elizabeth Crews m. Jackson Francisco, had 5 children 6. Lucinda Crews at the time of William's death she was not married and apparently had spent her adult life caring for her mother, whom I assume must have been ill. I do have a copy of William's Will and it lists all of his children and the Francisco's and Crews's must have been friends when the older members lived in Virginia. Lucinda i think must have married as she is buried in the Bellamy Cemetery, Carters Valley, Hawkins, TN but have nothing yet to verify it. I have been on a hunt trying to find Sarah's (Wm's wife) maiden name... the name Wills, Kinkead, Click keep showing up... I don't have the dates of birth on these children as yet as the will did not mention that. Hope that helps Val Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. It could be first cousin, cousin in law or something else, such as second or third cousin, or cousin removed. I tend to believe that the right interpretation is first cousin, but that would be subject to other opinions. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: jody77 Surnames: Williams Alvis Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.hawkins/9525/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My GG grandmother Wrendie (Rinda)Alvis was born June 9, 1838 and died February 27, 1865 per a bible record I have in my possession. She married John A. Williams Aug. 2, 1857 in Hawkins Co., TN. About 10 years ago I was told that she was the daughter of William Anderson Alvis, a Lucinda born ca. 1835. Is it possible that she wasn't the daughter of William, but the daughter of John M. Alvis (brother of William) and Naomi a daughter listed as Katherine born circa 1838. I was hoping to find more definitive proof of her parentage. Thanks Jody Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
