The Jane that Stephen Gilbert married was, Jane Smith. I have the death certificate of their daughter, Elander Sarah "Ellen" Gilbert Alexander. It states that her mother's name was Jane Smith. In the 1850 census, her father is living with the family, William. I can find no further information on him or who is wife was. Susan
