    2. David, Denise and Tom: My gg grandparents, James Nicholas and Susannah (Unknown) Maddox were in the home of Jessie B. Dobbins on the 1860 census of Hardin Co. In the 1870 census, Susannah and her son Jessie were still in the home of Jessie B. Dobbins but James N. Maddox was no longer there. Does anyone know if Susannah was a daughter of Jessie B. Dobbins? Any help appreciated. See home page at the address below. Ed. ----------------------------- See home page at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~adams1895

    3. Ed, The 1840 Census for Hardin County shows the following living in adjacent households in the 3rd C. D.: Jesse B. Dobbins 210001-001001 Dan Maddox 000110001-030110001 Note that Jesse has a female in his household (daughter) age 10 to 15 that is not accounted for in his household in the 1850 census for Hardin County. James N. Maddox and Susannah live in the 4th C. D. which is adjacent to the 3rd. 1850 Census, Hardin Co., TN 49-49 Jesse B. Dobbins 45 SC farmer, 3rd C. D. Milly 43 TN Thomas W. 17 TN Jesse M. 14 TN John W. 12 TN Mary J. 8 TN 111-111 James N. Maddox 24 TN laborer 4th C. D. Susannah 20 TN From "Hardin County Tennessee Records, 1820-1860" by Tony Hays, Page 82: 1. November 1851, Jesse Dobbins appointed administrator of the estate of J. N. Maddox. 2. Petition for dower by Susannah Maddox, the widow of John N. Maddox. Mentions one child of John N. Maddox for whom Ephraim Maddox is guardian. Note: The census record clearly has his name spelled as James N. Maddox. The transcribed information in Tony's book says John N. Maddox. James would appear to be correct.
