I found the file and it contains a plat with all the graves located and the names of the ones that could be identified. also the geneology list prepared by Grace Patterson of the Freeman descendants and the Bain descendants prepared by some of the Bain family. The named graves are: J. N. Freeman, William POke, John dobbins, John M. Andrews, Nancy S. Falls, Neomi S. Falls, Dohra SE Kerr, Clarence A. Kerr, A. Daver, emsley A. Blount, Isabella A. Vulcan Materials, at the request of several members of the Bain family, petitioned the Chancery Court of Hardin County for permission to remove the graves from the Bain Cemetery to the Mount Herman Cemetery. Vulcan bought additional land for the addition to the Mt. Herman Cemetery and paid the cost of removal. The removal was done by Shackleford Funeral Directors. I represented Vulcan in the case and have the file on it but cannot remember the exact year, probably around 1980. We hired Grace Patterson, the county historian, to research the descendants of all of the persons burried in the cemetery and ones that could be found were notified. I believe that Lee Lackey was appointed to represent unknown descendants. The Bains wanted the cemetery moved because of the proximity to the limestone quarry and difficult access. Some of the Freemans objected but did not file any contest to the petition. Let me know if you would like any other information. Several of my Freemans were buried there and I'd like to know where they today.
