I have found a James Freeman in the 1880 Hardin County census married to a Barbara. John was married before 1880 so he wouldn't appear among the children. The listed children are all a bit younger than John was then. > > No other James Freeman came up in the Hardin County Census of 1880. Can anyone tell me more? I wonder if there were other James Freemans or if this one is mine. He could have remarried if Jane died before 1880. Thanks if anyone knows anything. > > I plan to travel down that way next month and maybe can visit the library. > > Star > > _____________________________________________________________ > Save rainforest for free with a Planet-Save.com e-mail account: > http://www.planet-save.com > >

    3. James Jasper Freeman was the son of William P. Freeman and (Nancy see 1850 census below?) William P. Freeman died about the 11th of June in 1837. His children were bound out to guardians, however, no mention is made of his wife. Usually the Administrators of the estate are appointed to lay off support for the widow. There are at least 21 items in the court records relating to the heirs of William P. Freeman, yet none mention his wife which indicates that she may have preceded him in death. All seven of the William P. Freeman children can be found in the 1850 Census for Hardin County, Tennessee: 49-49 James J. Booth 25 TN 2nd C. D. Elizabeth 19 TN John W. 6m TN Elizabeth Freeman 15 TN 46-46 Benj. R. Freeman 25 SC 3rd C. D. Elizabeth J. 20 TN Elizabeth A. 4 TN Sarah I. 2 TN 47-47 William A. Freeman 24 SC 3rd C. D. John L. 22 TN Sarah J. 19 TN Adaline C. 17 TN James J. 21 TN 108-108 Fielder Woodard 70 MD 1st C. D. Catherine 65 VA Elizabeth A. Freeman 13 TN 25-25 Nancy Freeman 40 NC 3rd C. D. (Widow of William P. ?) Elizabeth 16 TN Barbara A. Bain, 1834- after 1880, was the daughter of John "Bossy" and Margaret Doran Bain. James J. Freeman and Barbara were married ca 1853. They had the following children: Malissa, b. 1854 Houston, b. 1855 John B., b. 1857 Margaret, b. 1859 James Nelson. b. 1863 Martha, b. 1866 Rebecca, b. 1868 Rosanna, b. 1870 Joanna, b. 1870 Elenor P., b. 1872 John B. Freeman married Sarah L. Seaton, 11 August 1878. In 1880, they have one child, Annie, age 5 months. Sarah appears to be the daughter of George and Delaney Seaton. Is this your family?
