    3. Melanie, The place where D. A. Baxter lived was probably in Range XIII, Section IV, Seventh Surveyor's District. Don't confuse these ranges and sections with those of other states. As soon as all the public lands were sold in Tennessee, those original descriptions were almost never used again. Very few people today can even find a range or section line. They are not marked in any way. Sounds like a good project for the Historical Society.
