Thanks David. Do you know who Warren AUSTIN purchased that piece of property from? I`m trying to trace that piece of property back to the Original Owner. At one time Elizabeth SHIPMAN and her children lived in the 8th Civil District. With your knowledge of Hardin County and it`s districts do you think that the James SHIPMAN family moved or did the Civil Districts just chance numbers? 1850 census Hardin Co TN 8th CivDist -70/70 James Shipman 27 M Farmer Tn 12 Martha Shipman 20 F Tn 12 John M Shipman 2 M Tn 1860 Census Hardin Co TN 8th Civ Dist 902-935 Page 132 PO Lowryville & Herbertsville SHIPMAN, James 36 M TN 300 300 Martha W 35 F TN John Mc 12M Sarah M 7 F Amanda J 6 F George R 3 M James W 7/12 M 1870 Census Hardin Co TN Pg 430 8th Civ Dist Line 26 PO: Savannah $695 134-134 SHIPMAN, James 48 M Martha 46 F Sarah M 18F John Mc 22 M Amanda J 17 F George R 13 M James W 10 M Margaret E 7 F Jerome A 2 M (This name is unreadable on the Census) 1880 census Hardin Co TN 8th CivDist 2-2 Page 82C Martha W Shipman 55 F Wid HouseKeeper Tn Geo NC Martha S Shipman 27 F Dau Tn Tn Tn Amanda J Shipman 25 F Dau Tn Tn Tn George R Shipman 22 M Son Tn Tn Tn James W Shipman 20 M Son Tn Tn Tn Margaret E Shipman 16 F Dau Tn Tn Tn 1900 Hardin Co TN 5th Dist Page 112a Walnut Grove 14-14 SHIPMAN,Martha W Head WF Jun 1823 76 Wid 9-5 TN Unk NC Farmer No No Yes Sarah M Dau WF Mar 1854 46 S TN TN TN Yes No Yes George R Son WM Sep 1860 39 S " Labor Yes Yes Yes James W Son WM Oct 1862 37 S " Labor Yes Yes Yes Maloney, Ira B GDau WF Dec 1886 13 S TN TN SC A/Sch Yes No Yes 1910 Census Hardin Co TN D 84 sheet 6 Civil Dist 9 George R SHIPMAN 50 (Widow) TN AL TN James W SHIPMAN 48 bro single TN AL TN Sarah M SHIPMAN 59 Sis single TN AL TN 1920 Census Hardin Co TN Page 5b 9th Civ Dist 20Jan1920 90-92 SHIPMAN, James W MW 58 TN TN TN Martha FW Sister 68 TN TN TN 1930 Census Hardin Co TN Civ Dist #9 52-52 SHIPMAN, James W MW 68 Single TN TN TN Sarah M Sister FW 80 Single TN TN TN Allison,Blanch Niece FW 43 Wid TN TN TN Allison, Nora M Dau FW 19 Single TN TN TN Joe In a message dated 9/25/2007 6:54:06 A.M. Warren's father was Ben Austin and both were already living in Savannah in the 70's and both have been dead for several years now. Their family originated on Horse and Holland Creek and I am sure they are descendants of the Stephen Austin you mentioned. Warren Austin had a sister that married a George Allison, however, I am not aware of a Nash Austin. Perhaps someone on this list can help?
