Beryl, It looks like your grandmother was probably born at Cerro Gordo in Hardin County. She was living there with her parents in 1900 in the 2nd Civil District.: 112 W. B. William and his family were living in Lawrence Co., TN 1880 along side his parents, Robert Durham 61 and Elizabeth 55. Robert lived in Maury Co., TN in 1870 and in Giles County in 1860. In 1900, Lee Shelton Carr was living with his father and Step-mother in the 4th C. D. apparently near Walker Town. William J. Carr 41 AL Louisa 22 AL wife Griffin 18 AL Andrew J. 16 AL Noah E. 14 AL Lee S. 12 AL Marrian 9 AL Ada M. 6 AL Baby 5 months, b. TN It appears that William J. Carr lived in AL until at least 1894 when Ada was born. About 1895, he married a second time (?) to Louisa. The census stated she was the mother of two children, 1 living which is the one listed as baby. Apparently they were waiting to see if this one lived before they gave it a name. This was not uncommon in those times.
