Charlotte, Waites Cemetery is not in Hardin County, but a little more than a half mile into Lauderdale Co., AL on a ridge overlooking Pickwick Reservoir. There are more than one hundred graves in the cemetery. The 1980 Cemetery Census has a complete listing of those buried there. If you don't have access to the census, let me know and I'll send same to you privately as I will have to send an attachment which I can't use on this list. You get there from here (Savannah) by going south on TN Highway 69 toward Florence AL, turn right on Holland Creek Road and go almost to the TN-AL State line and turn right on Pea Ridge Road which will take you to State Line road in AL. I don't know the name of the road you need to turn left on to get to the Cemetery. The cemetery is not too far north of Waterloo AL. You might want to go there to start and get some local with knowledge of the area to help you get there. Hi David; Thank you very much for the information. I do have the 1980 census for the Hardin County Cemeteries. That was why I thought it was in Hardin Co. I am glad to know where it is. I went through the census and got all the names that were in Waites Cemetery. Someone was also kind enough to send me a listing from the Lauderdale Co., Web Site that had them all listed too. I am hoping to get to go down there and visit the Waterloo and the Cemetery soon. I have a lot of family that came from that area and migrated to Hardin and Dyer counties in TN. Anyway, thanks again. I really appreciate the help.
