Gail, I'm researching the ALEXANDER family for their possible connection to my BRAWLEYs. My ancestor is Thomas Granville BRAWLEY b. ca 1823-1826, d. after 1880 TN. I have death certificates of several of his children & he & his wife are listed as Huston BRAWLEY/Miss DEATON, T. G. Brawley Sr./Carylon Deaton, Granville Brawley/Susy Deton, Granville BRAWLEY/Caroline DEATON I've seen Charles G. ALEXANDER's wife Harriet BRAWLEY's father listed as "Granville BRAWLEY". Granville's an unusual name. The families are in the same areas, and their descendants intermarried. They certainly at least knew each other. There's another BRAWLEY to consider, Mary Jane BRAWLEY (1827-1909), wife of John Galtny KENNEDY (1826-1905) who ran the Decatur Co. poorhouse in later years. The ALEXANDERs & KENNEDYs married into the same branch of GOFFs. Here's some background information on Thomas. Perhaps we can find the connection I've missed.
