Dear Deborah, I'm going to have to reply when I'm at home with a computer that I can deal with better than my grandson's Mac. :-)--and where my materials are on file. I'm in Hawaii with my son and his family, leaving Sunday night, home Monday afternoon, after which everything will need to be done *first*. I think my Peter and your Sarah Jane are the children of John Garner and his wife Elizabeth. I have not seen (and this doesn't mean it isn't there) documentation that John's middle initial initial was F. or his middle name was Fushee. I think this is a variation/ corruption of Fourche, and I think that name was in the Garner-Keene family. I don't think ours belong to the G-K line. I don't have absolute proof of that. I simply think they are connected to "Dutch William" who was also in Moore. Dutch, in this case, is a corruption of Deutsch (Americans have lazy lips) and means *German* William. If memory serves, William was a Tory. Now I'll admit that I'd much rather be a part of the G-K family, but I just don't think that we are. I don't have a closed mind, and if you can prove that John's middle name was Fushee or a variation, it'll please me no end. It will shed a whole new light on the situation. On the other line I search (and I'd love to connect these two lines) I also want to find a Charles Garner who was born in Mason County, Kentucky about 1780. He married a McIntosh and lived among Scots. Some people say his father was Parish Garner, and the name Parish is found among the G-K people. One descendant evidently has found the same thing you've come up with on our John, a genealogy back into the 1400's. What I find online doesn't help to make this connection, and maybe I haven't found the right Website. Some WorldConnect genealogies attribute a large number of children to Parish, born to the same mother over a 40-year span, next to impossible. Muddying the waters is the fact that there were at least two and probably more Parish Garners. We really should be having this discussion on the Garner mailing list. I have posed the same questions about Parish/Charles there and received no answers. In any case, I'm certain that your Sarah Jane and my Peter were brother and sister. Their brother William joined the *Union* Army while living in Arkansas, and gave his birthplace as Moore County, North Carolina. This fact is documented in "Arkansas Damnyankees", a list of Arkansas Union Soldiers, and the information in it can be proven from military records.
