David, Deborah, etc. The Daniel Owen referred to in your recent emails is an ancestor of mine. It appears the census taker (?) in 1850 added an s onto the Owen name. Later, some of the family kept the S but most did not. Daniel and Nancy Owen were the parents of John R. Owen, b. 1851, m. Ellen Alexander. John R. and Ellen were the parents of Laura Ida Owen, my grandmother, who married William Chesley Alexander. Laura and Chesley were the parents of my Mother, Nona Beryleen (Alexander), m. Hi Margie! It was very nice to hear from you.? Let's see if our records add up - I have a John I. Owen, son of John D. Owen (whom I assume is known as Daniel in most of the records)... This John I. Owen(s) sounds like your John R. Owens.? I have him married to a Hellen (which could be your Ellen). The children I have for them are: Flora G., John W., Hatti M., Polly C., Alley, and Lola.? Now, their last name was spelt Oen on the census I think.? I have them listed in Hardin Co TN 1900 census, dist 8.? John I was born Sept 1864. Please verify if this is the same family we are talking about.? I would be so glad to know the real story about the Owen family in Hardin Co.? Mabye we can figure some of these branches out!
