    1. Re: [TNHARDIN] Owen, Hill, Sloan Families
    2. Hi Ed, Yes, this is the John D. Owens/Owen/Oen and Polly V./Nancy/Mary "Nan" that is from my Owens line.? I'm finding that the "S" was added, but I have absolutely no idea why it got changed to Oen for the cemetery marker.? I think it might be Oen in one of the censuses but I can't remember which one.? I checked, and up to 1880, it was spelled Owens.? In the 1900 census, the spelling change is apparent, and it looks like one of the sons takes up the new spelling as well, but is this just a census glitch?? I haven't done enought research to know. Oen born 1833 and died 12/23/1912 and a Pollie V. Oen born 1837 buried in the Lebanon Cemetery, located on 69 Hwy. between Milledgeville and Saltillo. Could this be another spelling of the name Owens? ----------------------- Ed Adams See My Home Page at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~adams1895 ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNHARDIN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ________________________________________________________________________ Email and AIM finally together.
