3. Hi Norma: Who were you replying to in this post? I was wondering if you had received some info that disproved your theories about Benajmin being the son of Frank Winchester. I'm still working on this, but no luck yet. BTW: Benjamin F served with the Union iduring the Civil War. Regards, Terry Winchester From: "Norma W Matthews" < DisplayMail('comcast.net','nmat6808'); nmat6808@comcast.net> Subject: [TNHARDIN] Winchesters in Hardin Date: Mon, 16 Apr 2007 13:20:08 -0400 My thanks to you BOTH. For a while I thought maybe---Robertson belonged to my Daniel (b 25 Dec. 1752) but when I saw from the census he was born in TN 1811, I knew he had to belong to someone else. A Genealogist in Hardin did a little work for me a few years ago. She commented she thought Robertson belonged to Thomas. We can't know for sure I understand that, but since Thomas Winchester and the Russell's apparently lived close to each other and Thomas sold land to them, that to me is "a fairly close connection". Also, before I have 1/2 of a senior moment here---Daniel was in Maury County in 1820, Douglas and Thomas were in Hardin. 1830 Douglas is in New Madrid, MO, Thomas and Daniel are in Hardin. In rereading Daniel's census for 1830, I see---I have to make some changes. It DEFINITELY is a "work in progress" I THOUGHT I'd already worked out. In 1830 Rosanna's age is listed at 60-70, in 1850 census her age is listed as 77 (I know she had a guardian appointed about that time, but to age only 7 years in a 20 year time span??). In 1830 in Daniel's h/h there is listed a male b 1825-1830 which corresponds with Ben.F. Winchester b 1826 (whom I believe to be a grandson of Daniel's) and a female b 1825-1830 who very well could be Daniel's dau. Leah's child. I looked and could find no Dennis O'Neal in the 1830 census, so it seems very possible that Leah and Milly were listed with Daniel). So while some Daniel Winchester information submitted earlier is/was correct, I see now that some of it wasn't. Bear with me please while I attempt to get it as nearly RIGHT as I can. -------Original Message------- From: Jane Ellis Date: 4/15/2007 2:09:50 PM To: DisplayMail('rootsweb.com','tnhardin'); tnhardin@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNHARDIN] Winchester Families --------------------------------- Park yourself in front of a world of choices in alternative vehicles. 3. Terry, please contact me directly (I thought I had copied ALL my email addresses when changing computers), but apparently didn't. 3. Hi Norma, Just wanted to let you know I'm still workin on my dad's line, but haven't gotten far. I DID find that the Thomas Winchester who, along with Benjamin, lived in Marshall County, KY in 1870 left and went to Union County, IL, where he married Julia McIntyre in 1877, had a daughter in 1879, and moved his new family to Garland County Arkansas by 1880. He must have died shortly thereafter, as I find Julia remarrying in 1883 to a Larkin Boone. No luck so far in finding his death record. No luck in finding what happened to Benjamin after his 1873 marriage in Marshall County to Nancy Lovel. By the way, many of Kentucky's residents moved to southern Illinois, especially Union County. Wonder if the railroad went through there.
