Hi Sonja, The Jnd should be noted as John N. D. Hale. Benjamin Hale was first in the Rutherford Co. TN 1810 Census prior to moving to Hardin Co. Also a Thomas Hale (Hail?) moved to Glaize Township, Jackson Co. AR and died there in 1886. This is the same township where my Henrys and Russells moved from Hardin Co. in about 1853. William Russell married Elizabeth Hale Feb. 26, 1782 in Rowan Co. NC. I just wonder if Elizabeth Hale was the daughter or sister of Benjamin Hale? I have these Hale notes from several years back without much specific data: Bennet Hale m. Alcy Reed. Children: Nancy Narcissa and Lucinda ANGELINE Hale. Emanuel Hale James Hale John N. D. Hale As with another surname of Hardin, I have references to two different Benjamin Hales. The first in NC and the second in Southampton Co. VA where David Newsom purchased August 13, 1752 from Benjamin Hale and wife Judith 100 acres. The neighbors were Edward Robertson, John Smith, William Jelk. I've also this notation as Nathaniel Newsom was also my third great grandfather: Jones Glover Grantee: 2 December 1785. NOTE Location: Sussex County. NOTE Description: 312 acres on the south side of Nottoway River and on Ploughmans Swamp adjoining. Nathaniel Newsum, Frederick Fort, Benjamin Hale and extending. I'm not certain that any of the above is a big help but hopefully will give you further avenues of research.
