Hope you all don't mind another Russell descendant coming into the conversation. I'll post documentation regarding Robert, Alexander and the rest of the families ties back to Guilford Co. NC. Robert Russell (Sr.) married Delilah Reeves married 7-28-1777 in Guilford, N.C. Delilah was the daughter of James Reeves and wife Millicent. James Reeves parents were: William Reeves b. 1690 m. Margaret Burgess d. 1751 Granville,N.C. James Reeves and Millicent were parents of the following children: Malachi d. bef 1784 m. Fortune Burton d/o Richard Burton (Malachi & Fortune's children: Richard, Thomas, Martha, Jesse, William, Jonathan, Mary, Zella, Malachi & Thomas) Jeremiah m. Jane Brazile William m. Fortune Rhodes d. 1821 Madison, Ky. Elizabeth m. Holmes Judith m. Simon Moon DELILAH m. ROBERT RUSSELL Rhoda m. Parker Robert Russell that married Delilah Reeves was the son of William Russell Sr. of Guilford Co. NC who wrote in his will the following: "to my eldest son Robert, land east of Still House Branch whereon he lives to be his full part of my estate, remainder divided between William, John, David, James and Alexander". When David & Alexander sold the land willed to them by William Sr. it was by their brother Robert (10-10-1795). Still Branch. When John of Lee, Va. sold his land to James Russell (land that was grant to William Sr. 1784) it began at Robert Russell's corner mouth of Still Branch. When William Jr. sold his land that was his father's it was by David Russell's NE corner by William Jr's own line Gowdy's corner. When OUR Robert Russell died the sheriff seized part of his land and the description was as follows: Beginning Robert Russell's own survey runs west his own line to William Russell's corner west to William Gowdy's corner north on his own line to his corner west on his line east to first station and 17 acres laid off as widow's dower. Then when William Case bidded on the 131 acres it was beginning at Thomas Bath's corner east, north, north, west to William Gowdy's, south to Gowdy's corner, Still Branch, Potters Branch property late of William Russell dec'd. 1790 Guilford-Salisbury District 1-3-3 Died before 2-1-1798 Judgement against Estate of Robert Russell. Sum to satisfy. No goods or chattels. 263 acres by William Russell's corner. 17 acres of above laid off to his widow's part of her dower. Public sale to highest bidder. (Samuel Maxwell) OUR Robert Russell was the son of William Russell, Sr. The Robert Russell that married Susannah must have been a brother of William Russell, Sr. In his will he left money to **Robert & Alexander sons of Robert Russell dec'd. Also John Donaldson. Then to William his brother William's son and Thomas & Robert Washington Russell sons of his brother David. **This is one source for Robert and Alexander Russell later of Hardin Co. TN. Robert Russell Sr., husband of Delilah and father to the boys, died suddenly in Guilford Co. NC prior to 1800. At that time he had just made several land purchases in another NC County and apparently his money was caught up in this land purchase. The Sheriff took all but a few acres of the land in Guilford Co. to pay for the lands and estate. Then a couple of years later, James R. Russell repurchased these lands and in 1804 James and mother Delilah Russell sold this land. We have found a 1800 marriage for James R. Russell and Darius Burton in Guilford Co. However, it's our belief that she died before they arrived in Hardin Co. That James R. Russell most probably brought his mother Delilah to Hardin Co. and it appears that Delilah is in the 1830 Census for Hardin residing with Robert Russell and family, Delilah then being between 70 and 80 years of age. Then in 1835 Delilah died and Alexander Russell was the administrator of her will. 1800 Guilford Co. She was born 1774-1784. James Russell was bond on Campbell & Margaret's marriage. Delilah and son James R. Russell sold lands in Guilford Co. 1804. (see below) James R. Russell married Dareus Burton April 2, 1800 Guilford Co. and Darius died enroute to Hardin Co. as verified by her descendant in 2003. P. 205 JAMES R. The 131 acres was originally Robert Russell's. 5-18-1802 the sheriff sold to William Case. It said goods & chattel of Robert Russell dec'd. Then William Case sold to James Russell. Then James & Delilah sold it. So he is the son of Robert & Delilah. Then this is the James Russell who came into Hardin Co. 1825 and he and Alexander purchased the lands. James deed was dated Dec. 25, 1825. Several Russells and their families moved to AR between 1853-54 following the death of Robert Russell of Hardin Co. This included John and America Russell Jackson, Robertson and Judith Russell Winchester, William and Elizabeth Russell Henry, Robert R. and Mary Ann Russell, a John Russell family and also some of the Reeves and Tucker families. I've many Russell documents and will be happy to share. I am the great granddaughter of Elizabeth Francis Russell who married William A. Henry 1831 Hardin Co. TN.
