It now appears that my ancestor William Riley McMahan was related to the other McMahans in Hardin County. Apparently James F. McMahan Sr. was his grandfather. David Cagle and Jane Ellis have shared all the information they could find in public records on McMahans in Hardin County, but I am hoping to find anyone with a family tree that includes James F.'s descendants. Does anyone have anything on John D. McMahan, believed to be the father of William Riley. I am also interested in John W.McMahan, a full or half brother to William R. Both John D. and John W. owned land in Calloway County, KY in the late 1840's but John's siblings seem to be in Hardin County in the 1830's. I have been trying to contact Tom Courtney about John D.'s sister who married a Coatney or Courtney but my email bounced back. I have also been in contact with Jane Ellis about the McMahan/Watson connection and hope to find anyone with any information to share. John W. was married to a Rachel Watson in Kentucky in 1843. There is to be a reunion of the descendants of William Riley in Portageville, MO on the 25th of August and I would love to have more information to share with others by that date. no time to research for you, but McMahans and Watson abound in Sevier County about 1800. Check Sevier County Geneological Soc for history...jim Watson ----- Original Message ----- From: "Annette Williams" <awilliams1@mindspring.com> To: "TN HARDIN" <tnhardin@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2007 11:46 AM Subject: [TNHARDIN] McMahans > It now appears that my ancestor William Riley McMahan was related to the > other McMahans in Hardin County.
