Jane, Surveyors District 8, Range 11, Section 1, included Clifton and most of the area that Wayne Co. got from Hardin Co. in 1850. Part of that land that went to Wayne Co. also was located in District 8, Range 12, Section 1. John Watson's land was in District 8, Range 12, Section 1, the part that remained in Hardin Co. However, John Aiken's land would not have touched Watson's land but could have been within a couple of miles.
