    3. To all interested Hardin Co. researchers, During the past week or so, I've listed the names which are shown in the index of an 1887 Goodspeed publication on Hardin County. I was doing fairly well until the holiday weekend, and now I'm behind. I don't have the book with me today, but first thing tomorrow, I will continue the index listing. Also, if you haven't heard from me regarding your query, you'll hear from me no later than tomorrow evening. I apologize for my delay. I have a question of my own. In this same publication, it refers to "Col. Joseph Hardin" as having been the first white man who stepped foot onto what is now Hardin Co. soil. A few sentences later, it seems to refer to the same individual as "Col. James Hardin," plus, I see that Col. James Hardin had a son named Joseph. Was the first "Col. Joseph Hardin" the same individual as "Col. James Hardin" or was "Col. Joseph" the father of James??? Does anyone know the answer? I'm not directly related -- just curious.
