Brenda, I just happen to be at NARA today and looked up your Francis Marion Pool. Yes he appears both in Union & Confederate indexes. In the Union army he was a Pvt in Co H, 6th Tenn. Cavalry. In the Confederate army he was a Pvt in Co H, 37th Tenn Inf. In parenthesis it also shows 7th Tenn Reg't Prov'l Army and 1st E. Tenn Rifle Reg. There was a F. M. Pool shown in the 1860 census of Obion Co., TN. He and his wife Sarah were both 23 years old. No children. Was that him?
