    3. Appeared in the Independent Appeal Wednesday, April 14, 1999 RICKY NEAL WHITAKER, age 36, died Mon. Apr. 12, 1999, at his home of a brain tumor. He was the manager of Selmer Glass Company. Also, a member of the Selmer First Christina Church, the Selmer Moose Lodge, and Participated in Cars for Kids. Services took place at 1 pm on Wed. Apr. 14, at Shackelford Chapel. Burial was held at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Monty Rickman, Terry Graham, Wayne Basinger, Alvin Strickland, Gary Higginbottom, Todd Simpson, Phillip Lambert, and Tracy Thomas. Mr. Whitaker is survived by his wife, Jolene Baumann Whitaker. He is also survived by his daughter Jennifer Lee Anne Teet and son-in-law, David Dewayne Teet, his mother and father, Larry Neal Whitaker and Barbara Cox, brother Steven Lynn Whitaker all of Selmer. VANDIVER of Hornsby, age 81, died Fri., Apr. 9, 1999, of heart disease at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Mr. Vandiver was a farmer and sawmill worker, and a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. Services took place at 1 pm on Mon. Apr. 12, at Shackelford Chapel in Selmer. Burial was held at the Curtis Hill Cemetery in Bethel Springs. The ministers were Frank Bell and Aaron Moss. Mr. Vandiver was preceded in death by a son David Vandiver, a sister, Drewsella Vandiver, and three brothers, William Earl, Lawrence, and Roby Vandiver. Mr. Vandiver leaves behind his daughters Martha McMahan of Pocahontas, Hazel Hanes, and Sarah both of Henderson, Janice Pasalaque of Newport, Ark., Barbara Shankle of Hornsby, and his sons, Daniel Vandiver of Selmer, and Curtis Vandiver of Hornsby. Mr. Vandiver was the son of Herschel and Ora Sanders Vandiver, and is survived by his sisters Ozells Ervin of Millington, Wilma Burns of Covington, TN., and his brother Howard Vandiver of Pocahontas, Cortis Vandiver of Jackson, Lester Vandiver of Covington, TN, Raymond Vandiver of Jackson, TN, and Wendell Vandiver of Silerton, TN. Mr. Vandiver also leaves 13 grandchildren and 4 gr-grandchildren. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> WAYNE KING, SR., 64, of Hornsby, died Apr. 3 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. The husband of Lucy Jane Hodge King, who survives, he was a retired maintenance technician at the Armira Corporation until it closed. He was born on August 12, 1934, in McNairy County, son of the late Olen Lee and Lois Leonard King and lived all of his adult life in the Hornsby area. He served in the Army from 1958-60 in Germany and was a member of Hornsby Baptist Church. Services were 3 pm Apr. 5 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Bolivar with Rev Mickey Cossar, Rev. Tim West and Rev. Skippy Rowland officiating. Burial was in Hatchie Cemetery near Hornsby with Barry Hodge, Ronald King, Todd Kiestler, Jimmy Williams, Wayne Colburn, Richard Hodge, Bobby Hodge and Terry Hodge serving as casket bearers. Serving as honorary casket bearers were Dennis McMahan, Billy Johnson, George Moore, Philip Hodge, Pete Newman and Grady Hemiman. In addition to his wife, whom he married on August 12, 1955, Mr. King is survived by two daughters, Karen Cox of Hornsby and Cindy Pulse of Middleton; three sons, Morris King, Jr. of Bolivar Jeff King of Jackson and Aubrey King of Selmer a granddaughter whom they raised, LaCosta King Diggs of Mercer; one sister, Linda West of Hornsby, one brother, Roger King of Hornsby fourteen grandchildren and one gr-grandson. The family requests memorials be sent to Hatchie Baptist Church Building Fund. ...>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. CHARLENE HYSMITH JONES, died Tues., Apr. 6, 1999, at Jackson General Hospital of a Cardiac Arrest. She was retired from Food Service. Services took place at the Casey Funeral Home Chapel at 3 pm on Thurs. Apr. 8, 1999. Interment was held at Chester County Memory Gardens. The Minister was Bro. Dennis Cleek. Ms. Jones is survived by four sons, Roger Dale �Buddy� Jones of Huron, TN, Sammy Lynn Jones of Knoxville, John David Jones of Henderson, and Eddie Mark Jones of Jackson. She is also survived by her three daughters, Melba Jo Johnson of Huron, Kaye Busby of Montezuma, and Judy Cox of Henderson, one brother John D. Hysmith of Finger, and four sisters, Emma Maness and Beulah Vandiver, both of Henderson, Bernice Williams of Finger, and Willie Jo Morton of Springfield, Ohio. She had 22 grandchildren and 6 gr-grandchildren. Ms. Jones was born and reared in McNairy Co, Finger, daughter of the late Fuller and Mary Velma Browder Hysmith. She attended schools at Finger and in 1944 was married to Sam P. Jones. They made their home in Chicago, Ill, until 1958 when they returned to Henderson. She worked at Chester County Nursing Home for 11 years, and then worked for Morrison�s Food Service, and later Hill Food Services at Freed Hardeman University until she retired in 1990. Mrs. Jones died in 1979. >>>>>>>>>>>>>> MARTHA SUE McGEE DUMAS, age 67, died Fri. Apr. 9, 1999 of cancer at her home in Memphis. She was a homemaker and childcare provider. Services took place at 1 pm on Sunday, Apr. 11 , at Shackelford Chapel in Selmer. Burial was held at the Hunter Cemetery, in Selmer. Pallbearers were Dee Crossnine, Joe Elam, Josh Dumas, R. J. Dumas, Roberto Garibay, and David Beaty. Ms. Dumas is the daughter of the late Thomas and Myrtle Lee King McGee. Ms. Dumas is survived by her daughters, Diane Freeman of Memphis, Becky Crossnine of Memphis, Frances Hall of Memphis, Robin Dumas of Victoria, Miss., Joyce Butler of Olive Branch, Miss, and her son Robert �Butch� Dumas of Southaven, Miss, as well as her sisters Bessie Lee Taylor of Memphis, Margie Rhea Russell of Selmer, Jane Russell of Pocahontas, and Vestie Lou Locke of Middleton. Ms. Dumas leaves 10 grandchildren and 2 gr-grandchildren behind. Ms. Miller was retired from the Credit Department of Sears Roebuck and Company, and she was also a Hostess at Hardee�s in Selmer. Ms. Millers was a member of Adamsville Freewill Baptist Church and the Civil Air Patrol. Services took place at 3 pm on Sun., Apr. 11 at Adamsville Freewill Baptist Church. Burial was held at the Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery in Shiloh, TN. Ms. Miller was the daughter of the late Bill Glove and Eva Barlow Glover of Adamsville. Ms. Miller also leaves behind her sister, Billie Marie Cook of Jackson, TN and her son Robert Allen Miller of Warner-Robbins, Calif. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MIKE HENSLEY, age 77, died Sat., Apr. 10, 1999, of heart failure at Methodist Health Care in Somerville, TN. Mr. Hensley is the son of the late Harm and Bertha Reagan Hensley. Mr. Hensley leaves behind his wife, Blan McCalister Hensley, his daughters Annie Ruth Smith of Ramer, Neoma Pearson of Selmer, Lavonne Monroe of Selmer, and his sons, Herschel Hensley of Guys, and Russell Hensley of Ramer.
