Debbie, I just copied it the way Ms. Laura Hitt wrote it. She used three spellings, Garret, Garrett and Garrard in her work. I believe the name is usually spelled Garrard, that is, in the Savannah phone book, but pronounced both ways. If you haven't seen it, Ms. Hitt took William Bain Sr. b.
