    3. BW, This is not the Washington Wells Bunch. But, we'll claim them anyway because they are from this end of the county, living in and around Cerro Gordo. This is part of the family of "Old" William Wells who was born in VA ca 1787, was living in Hardin County before 1830, and drowned in Hardins Creek. One of the children of William and _______Proctor Wells was Williamson Wells who was shown by the 1850 census of Hardin Co., TN as follows: 66-66 Williamson Wells 38 TN 13th C. D. Eleanor S. 36 NC Susan E. 17 TN James J. 15 TN d. Civil War, "E" Co., 51st Inf. CSA Margaret P. 12 TN Thomas 10 TN d. Civil War, "E" Co., 51st Inf. CSA John W. 7 TN d. Civil War, "I" Co., 41st Inf. CSA Neil B. 4 TN Martha T. 2 TN William Wells 63 VA stonemason (father of Williamson) The 1860 census lists two more children of Williamson and Eleanor: Jane, b. 1850, TN Martha, (Marsha?) b. 1857 TN Another source lists a child, Arthur David Wells who was in "F" Co., 15th Cav. CSA. The census does not support the existence of a third son old enough to fight in the Civil War, however, I have seen him listed in more that one family tree as the son of Williamson. In 1840, Williamson wells was living In the 2nd C. D. and by 1850 had moved to the west side of the Tennessee River in the 13th C. D., (this is near Swallow Bluff) and was still there in 1860. He was married to Eleanor White, b. 1814 in NC. I don't know her parents. Amanda, the sister of Williamson Wells, was married to Mealy White. In 1840 there were four White families living in the 2nd Civil District. Reddick White, age 50-60; Peter White, age 40-50; King White, age 40-50; and John White, age 30-40. If one of these is the father of Eleanor White Wells, it is most likely Peter White?
