She used three spellings, Garret, Garrett and Garrard in her work. I believe the name is usually spelled Garrard, that is, in the Savannah phone book, but pronounced both ways. If you haven't seen it, Ms. Hitt took William Bain Sr. b. NC 1767 and listed all his descendants up until 1979. David >>
