    3. Company "G," "Hardin County Yankee Hunters" I have had 7 responses to the post below. Two interested in the unit flag, 2 in J. R. McFall, One interested in J. M. Barnhill and one in A. H. Neill. I appreciate your responses. G. H. "Ham" Smith of Gillis' Mills fought in several big battles-- Shiloh, Peryville Ky, Chickamaugh and Nashville, wounded twice, paroled by Gen. Hatch at East Port MS in 1865, wouldn't take the "Oath." "No Sir" was his answer. He couldn't get a pension because there wasn't any record of his service. In 1916, Ham got the Mayor of Pauls Valley, OK, Tom Kindall, to give him a reference. Tom and his brothers, Samuel and Alfred, were in "G" Company. Tom gave Ham a good reference and in the letter stated that Ham was wounded serving under Col. Jake Biffle, while chasing bushwhackers that had killed David Reed, another member of "G" Company. This occurred a short while before the close of the war. Does anyone have any information on David Reed. The Reed family is buried at Mt. Tabor, however, David does not have a stone. I would like birth and death dates if possible, and any other information.
