    2. Hewick
    3. Dear Brenda, My CARTER's md KELLEY sisters from Saltillo, Hardin Co., in 1882 & 1883. My CARTER line was from Gravelhill, McNairy Co., TN & Tishomingo Co., MS, having come there from Duplin Co., NC in the early 1800's. I had at one time a ton of CARTER information, but sent it a few years ago to Myron Sampson in FL, who is also a member of the Carter-L@rootsweb.com list. You might want to send your query to the Carter list, but you do need to join it first. Good Luck! 1. [TNHARDIN-L] Smith
    2. Kendra Oakley
    3. I am not familiar with these Smiths. My Smiths came from NC to Cannon Co., TN, and finally to Hardin Co between 1850 and 1860. The farthest back I know is Henry Harris Smith (b. ca 1810, d. ca 1870.) He and his wife Elizabeth had about eight children. I do not have a child named Eliza as being theirs. I have been unable to link my Smith line to any others in Hardin Co. yet. My Smiths were not in Hardin Co at the time you indicate that you found the will. Sorry I couldn't be any help! 3. What are your Turnbo lines? My g/g/grandfather Oakley's sister married a Turnbo in Decatur Co., and I know at least one of her children moved to Hardin Co. in the early 1900s? First in the Savannah area and then in the Saltillo area. His name was William, and he had several children (about 12 or 14 I think.) 1. [TNHARDIN-L] FRANKS
    2. Jerry W. Murphy
    3. Seeking the identity of Frederick FRANKS, Sr.'s wife. Any clues, thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. They were most likely married in Cabarrus County, North Carolina but Mecklenburg and Rowan Counties, North Carolina are possiblities since his family had resided in both counties. There is not however a marriage record in either of these counties for Frederick FRANKS. Frederick FRANKS, Sr. was born about 1773 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He was the son of Jacob FRANK (d. 1793 Cabarrus Co., NC) and Susannah ROAN. After Frederick's father died, his mother married 2nd James HANNAH and 3rd John GALLIMORE. Frederick moved to Tennessee in the early 1800s and appears on the 1812 Warren County, Tennessee tax list. He is later found in Hardin County, Tennessee where he died in the 1830s. Probable children were: 1. Jacob FRANKS (b. 1795 Cabarrus Co., NC). 2. Joseph FRANKS (b. c1801 Cabarrus Co., NC) m. (1)_________(2)Elizabeth N. BENSON. 3. Frederick FRANKS, Jr. (1803-1859) m. Nancy HARRISON. 4. William FRANKS (c1807-c1866) m. Margaret "Peggy" HOUSE. 5. John Jackson FRANKS (1809-1877) m. Elizabeth GALLIMORE. There were other children whose names are unknown at present. 2. Jerry W. Murphy
    3. Who was the husband of Olive/Olivia HOUSE? Was she the widow of John HOUSE listed on the 1820 Wayne County, Tennessee census? Was he the grandson of Mark HOUSE and Anna Maria BOST of Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties, North Carolina? Olive was born about 1780 in North Carolina. She is listed in Hardin County, Tennessee census records in 1830 and 1850 residing near the FRANKS family who were neighbors of the HOUSE family in Cabarrus and Mecklenburg Counties, North Carolina. Known children of Olive were: 1. Mark HOUSE (1813-c1868) m. (1)Eliza_______, (2)Catherine________. 2. Margaret "Peggy" HOUSE (b. 1814) m. William FRANKS. 3. child-female, (b. 1810-15). 4. child-female, (b. 1810-15). Any help or clues appreciated. Jerry W. I monitor the list constantly, and will make every effort to see that you question or query turns up on the County History Web site. Putting the email address in the body keeps me from having to do it, which takes some time. -----and please don't look for it too quickly. I got a lot to do!
