In my earlier letter I asked for Cemetary lookups but I would appreciate any Ganus family member info. I forgot to mention that the Stewarts of Hardin County also tie into this line as do the Plunks . I am working on the genealogy of James Franklyn Ganus b. 8 Aug 1883, d. 26 Feb 1973 married to Sarah Catherine Harris b.17 Dec 1883, d.29 Dec 1956. James was the father of my paternal grandmother, Mattie Idella Ganus Hopper b. 25 Nov 1903, d. January 16 Feb 1992 (better known as Della Hopper in the Crump area.) If anyone would please do a Crump cemetary and surrounding Hardin County lookup I will be greatly in your debt. Hoping someone can help me with any Sullivans - Sullivants that might have been in Hardin Co. 1820-1830. I've been told by Sullivan researchers of a Caleb Sullivant there and Elkanah Sullivant . Elkanah had a son John Sullivan b. ca. 1804 TN who married a Margaret Nelson ca. 1835 and a Jane Roach ca 1839... Also Caleb Sullivan Elkanah's brother may have had sons. Trying to attach a JOHN W. SULLIVAN b. ca 1832 TN who married a Millie (Emily) BROOKS in Hardeman Co. 1866. to siblings and parents. Any information would be much appreciated. Nancy Sullivan NSull7@aol.com

Sarah, These do not appear to be Hardin Co. names. Miller and Smith could be any county, and were in Hardin Co., in 1850, however, none of the others including Roach were in Hardin Co. for that census. There was a Stephen Roach, that settled at Clifton in the northeast part of the county which was ceded to Wayne County in 1850. Hi, Let me add some more concerning Welch's. Perhaps someone has the answer. John Wesley Delaney, son of John W. Delaney both of Hardin County, TN, married sometime before the 1850 census, probably in Hardin Co - I have not found record of marriage yet. His wife was Martha L.- I'm told Welch. In 1848, John Wesley bought 2 lots in Decaturville and he is listed on the 1850 census as hotel keeper with wife Martha . One of their boarders was James A. Welch age 23. I would want to think that James was probably a brother, but I haven't found a Welch family in Hardin Co that these 2 fit in. Any ideas? I have a mystery I am trying to unravel. I hope I can relay this so it isn't too confusing. Recently while I was in Nashville, I copied a Hardin County death certificate of a Mary COOPER, age 3 years, 10 months and 3 days. She was the daughter of D H COOPER and Ada SMITH (maiden name). They were evidently residents of Pyburns in Hardin County, at least that is were the death of Mary occurred. She died on June 21, 1923. The first part of the mystery is why she isn't listed in the Cemetery census, unless she is in an unrecorded grave. The death certificate says she was buried in Pyburns on June 22, 1923. Now the second part of the mystery, the only D H COOPER I find mentioned in the cemetery census is not likely the father of Mary COOPER. The D H COOPER in the census is Daniel Horry COOPER, one of the sons of my Great grandfather, Russell Ray COOPER. Daniel Horry was married 3 times and none of his wives were named Ada SMITH. Daniel Horry had a son with the initials of D H, but according to verbal info given to me, the young DH died at the age of 2. I think there is more than one mistake here. I believe the young D H was the father, but I can't understand why Mary would not be listed in the Pyburn cemetery. Sorry to go on about this, but this is really bothering me! Could anyone shed any light on this, or point me in the direction I need to go for the solution? Thanks for bearing with the long message! James Benny Cooper benracer@ebicom.net
