Hi Everyone, Looks like one got through the system. Tim Pierce of Rootsweb says, "We locked them out of our systems as soon as they started hitting us. They were pretty fast, though, and hit a lot of lists before we could get to it." In any even, they won't be spamming any Rootsweb lists again from that address. This was the only one of my lists that got the spam. Jerry W. Hi! I thought I would let y'all know that I have a lot of Hardin CO families represented in my database at my web site for the Denton and related families. There are over 15,000 people in the database, plus a lot of other information on the site. If any of you have Dentons in your lines, I would love to hear from you! There are also some down-loadable gedcom files for families other than Denton that I have in my at-home database, such as Hunt, Moore, Plumlee, Cooper, Chastain, O'Dell, French, Shipman, Baker and Huff. All of these families intersect in some way with the Dentons, but have a great deal more information in the gedcoms that is on the site. There is a lot of other information on the site as well that you might find interesting, as well, since so many of the Denton and related families were early into Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia as well as the Carolinas. The address is: http://www.acun.com/dentons I hope you find something of value! Blessings! Sue Montgomery-Cook

I've been submitting a list of names taken from the index of an 1887 Goodspeed publication on Hardin Co. I just realized that the index is not accurate. I just saw the name "Miss Delilah Strann" on page 19, yet she is not listed in the index. I'm going to finish listing all those named in the index, then I'll go back and correct the list. All names found and added to the index will be submitted to you in a final list. I'll try to send more names soon. Fellow Hardin county researchers, I am reposting a previous query about the Johnson Family. I have come to a deadend with Alva. I know something about one son (Luther) who moved to Texas. Luther became president of Trinity College which still exists today. But Luther died without children. Any leads, relations or connections, stories, etc would be a great help and would be appreciated! David ======================= Primary research interest: Alva JOHNSON and family Secondary interest: HUDIBURGH family I am trying to locate any information that I can related to Alva Johnson. He died in 1887 and is buried at Bethleham Cemetery (in Hardin county), and he was a pastor/teacher with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Alva's daughter was married to Gibson Hardin Hudiburgh, also a CP minister. Alva was also a confederate soilder, with the 27th Tennessee inf. He was in Purdy (McNairy County) before the civil war and was president of Purdy College. Thanks for your help. David Agnew

Responding to the earlier query concerning the Garners of Hardin Co., TN, I can find nothing on Marshal or William. I did, however, find two references to Garner men who resided in Hardin Co. during the 1820s. The Garner researcher may need this down the road. Source: Hardin County History of Tennessee: From the Earliest Time to the Present..., Chicago and Nashville: The Goodspeed Publishing Co., 1887. Page 4 "Henry Garner built a mill on Indian Creek, a short distance above Clifton ford in 1820." Page 5 [paragraph discusses miscellaneous court business] "J.R. McMeans resigned as attorney-general on July 4, 1820, and was allowed $30 for ex officio services. Ordinary licenses were granted to Harrison Simpson, October 21, 1820; to Isaac Jones, January, 1821; to James Garner, April, 1821 . . . ." To anyone else, if you are interested about this 1887 Goodspeed publication, I will list the name index, portion by portion, over the next few days. If someone wants a look-up, just ask. Please share this and pass it on. The Southern Regional Archive in Atlanta covers all the southern region states and they have the WWI draft registration cards on file for all those states by county, so if you are searching for info on an ancestor born around 1880 (ages I looked at varied 22-37 years old in 1917-1918 for the county of Dale, AL.) Then you can write that county's Court of Ordinary and request their discharge records. Or order the LDS microfilm "Military Discharges of WWI" for the county you ancestor filed in. Hope this helps someone. This is a well kept genealogy secret. Good Luck! Brenda Barfield
