The records show that his wife at the time was Elizabeth, also shown as Peggy, Garner. When Henry died in 1835, he had two minor children: Joshua and James. "R O L L C A L L" There wasn't an official roll call requested for Hardin County. A couple of weeks ago a "Roll Call" was request for Lauderdale Co, AL. A member of both county lists sent the Lauderdale reply to Hardin, thus a "Roll Call" has begun. The "Roll Call" is a list of the names you are searching in a particular county. Many people, including myself, read the queries looking for their names without posting queries of their own. I'd never heard of a roll call until last month and I think it's a great idea. Edgar, This appears to be the family of Benjamin (Jr.) and Mary Ann DeBerry who were enumerated in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census of Hardin Co., living in the 3rd Civil District. In addition to those listed below, there appears to be one other child, Dicy, m, b. 1858.. In 1850 Benjamin was listed as head of household, age 24 TN, living with his mother Disha, 64 NC, and perhaps a sister Peniuat H. Deberry, 19 TN. Benjamin's father was also named Benjamin Deberry and was shown in the 1840 census of Hardin Co. TN as follows: Benjamin DeBerry 00012001-00100001 6th C. D. Benjamin (Sr) died before 2 June 1845 when Henry D. DeBerry was appointed administrator of Benjamin's estate. Commissioners were appointed to lay off a dower for Disha DeBerry, the widow of Benjamin DeBerry, the same date. There is one other DeBerry family enumerated in the 1850 census of Hardin Co. TN: 101-101 Lemuel W. DeBerry 32 AL 4th Civil District Elizabeth 27 TN Henry 5 TN Mary 3 TN Benjamin 2 TN It might be considered that Lemuel W., Henry D., Benjamin, and Peniuat H. Deberry were probably the children of Benjamin (Sr.) and Disha Deberry. Disha DeBerry, the oldest child shown on your list below, married Dr. Willie J. Reynolds, the son of Redden Washington and Sarah Isabella McCain. After Sarah died, Redden married Nancy Kiser. These are my g/g/grandparents. David ________________________________ Edgar D. James and Others, It is believed by some that Swane Ward was black and for sure was a member of Company "G" First Confederate Cavalry Regiment. As yet, I have not found him in an 1870 census. It is felt by this writer that Swane may have been a slave associated with the James Ward family of the Ward or Porters Community on Horse and Holland Creeks. The 1870 census of Hardin County TN shows as follows: 17 James Ward 71 NC 7th Ciivil District Alice 42 NC Cyntha 29 TN A. Swane 28 TN M. Francis 23 TN Isabella Ward 26 TN black William 6 TN black Henry 4 TN black Catherine 1/12 TN black Does anyone know anything about Swane Ward? Thought the following might be of use to someone on the list. This list was found in the back of the original minute book of the Shoals Creek Baptist Association. The minutes begin in 1826 and run to 1860. After the war the old minute book was used as an account book by a Mr. Deberry of Hardin Co., TN. I don't have his name in the file with the list. This list appears on page 318 of the book. Anyone interested in this family should acquire the microfilm of the complete book from the Tennessee State Archives. 1. Desha DeBerry Was Borned Aprile the 9th 1860 2. Martha C. Deberry War Borned May the 18th 1861 3. Jhon. W. DeBerry Was Borned February the 27th 1863 4. Peniri H.
