Thought I would ask again about info on William Davidson in Hardin County 1830. Does anyone have any idea how to locate his wife's name. I have been stuck on this for way too long now. At the rate I am going I will meet him in the hereafter before I find out any info in this world. William married and had 3 children by 1st wife??? James b: 1811 married Nancy Goldsmith - James and Nancy lived 2 households apart from Goldsmith's in Hardin County. Robert Davidson b: 1817 who married a Polly in Perry county Tn in 1841. Hannah Davidson b: 1825/1826 who either married or took the name Thomas and lived in Hardiin County until she died. William then moved to Wayne County between 1830 and 1840 and married a Blackshear and had 2 more children: Alfred and Louisa. I have lot's on the descendants of William and all documented. But I can't seem to go back further than William. Toooo many Williams out there then. Recently found two more marriages that could fit: William Davidson married Hannah Bankhead in SC in 1806. And a William Davidson married Mary Miller in Carter County, Tn 22 Jan 1799. Other possibilities are a William Davidson married Hannah Oaks Grainger County Tn 1804 and one married Sally Langford in Knox Co Tn in 1810. Well, again appreciate your help. Laroice

We have found that the 1850 Marion County, AR census for North Fork Township shows William AUSTIN 73 b VA Mahala 45 b KY This has to be William, son of Stephen and Dorcas, and his second wife. Other data shows he died in 1853 at Bond, IL. I don't know how to account for this but we know a daughter stayed behind as wife of Moses Rea (Rhea). Also we find in the 1860 census of Hampton Township in the home of William "Southfoot" and Malinda (Coker) Wood, Mahala Austin age 60, born TN. The age doesn't quite match but this is probably the same lady. At the moment I am stumped for a reason why this lady would be living with this particular Wood family. Any thoughts? He is listed in the 1820 census of Wayne Co., Tenn. In 1840 he was a resident of Hardin Co., Tenn., and his father was living with him. The family continued to live there. The 1850 census indicates he was born in Virginia 1784/85 and his wife Nancy was born there in 1791. They were probably married ca. 1805. He died before 1860 but she is listed in that census, although not in 1870. Their children were: two daughters born before 1810 (one of whom is probably Elizabeth Austin, born 10 Sept. 1810, who married first James Davis and second Elbourn Bowles, and who was living in Saltillo, Hardin, Co., Tenn., in 1832), Stephen born 1810-12, John born 8 June 1816, David born 1818, William born 1820, Angeline born 1825 (married Henry Qualls), Archibald S. born 1826, and Robert born 1831. ______________________ REFERENCES Folder in Hardin County, Tennessee, Clerk's Office: Records of Mrs. Janet Austin (Curtis), 1025 Matador S. I am researching Davidson's in Hardin and Wayne County. I just discoved another connection but need some help. I don't have an 1860 Hardin County census. Could someone help me an look up the Goldsmith family? There may be a Jane Davidson listed as living with them. If so I think I have a big breakthrough. Maybe someone knows where an 1860 census is available on line. I found the 1850 census and the Goldsmith's are listed there living two families apart from James Davidson. Any and all help appreciated. Dave Davidson, Honolulu

Interestingly my ggGrandfather, Charles Washington Thompson was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Clifton. This was in about 1867 and his sons, P.G.W. and J.A.P. joined also. Charles was buried out the Lodge in Jan of 1895. I think that given the size of Clifton, if I just addressed a letter to the Lodge, they'd get it, don't you? _R_i_c_h_a_r_d_ rbrooksa@pacifier.com ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Carelessly planned projects take three times longer to complete than expected.
