Married ca 1791 Ann Reeves, daughter of George and Jane (Burton) Reeves of New River Plantation. The 1830 Census of Ashe Co., NC places his birth 1760-1770. I have him listed as the grandson of John Austin Jr. and Mary McBee. Children of Bartholomew and Anne are; William 1792, Isaiah 1793, Jane 1795 married Bill Sanders, Jesse 1 Jan 1797-19 Jun 1890 married Margaret Douglas, Andrew 1799 married Louisanne Bryant, Lucinda 1802, David 1804, John 1806, George 1808 - 1854 Grayson Co., VA married Eleanor Fields, Robert 1811, Prudence 1813, Jackson 1815 and Edwin 1817. Jane Burton could be related to the Burton/Hatcher line that is part of my Stovall line. I have William Austin as BROTHER to my line of Stephen Austin and Dorcas Pinson. Stephen and Dorcas lived for awhile in Wayne Co., TN before settling and dying in Hardin Co., TN at Hollands Creek. Dorcas Pinson is grand-daughter of John Stovall and Dorcas *Unk. 2. Tom Courtney
    3. I'm looking for help in figuring out who was the wife of Albert/Absolom/A.L.W. Crumby. He was apparently a well known figure in Hardin county in the 1860s and 1870s. He was mentioned in the local newspapers and in Tony Hays' book, "On the Banks of the River". In the Hardin Co. 1860 census, he was identified as a Teacher and in the 1870 census as a Grocer in Savannah. He was enumerated in the Hardin Co.census' of 1860, 1870 and (his family) in the 1880 census in the 12th CD of the county, which puts him in the Morris Chapel and Rights area of the county.. He was born June 22, 1828 and died Jan 19, 1880 according to his headstone inscription in Morris Chapel Cemetery. He was also a Mason. I have written to the Masonic Lodge in Savannah for their help. He was my GGfather; his son, Henry Thomas, was my Gfather. He, Albert, was married to a Mary A________? I thought for some time that he had married a Mary A Jones in 1852 in DeSoto Co., MS, but recent data from another source seems to dispute that. I remember that my mother told me some time ago that her Grandmother (Albert's wife) was a HARBERT....perhaps a sister to a Dr. Harbert, a well known figure in Hardin County in the early 1900s....1900-1920. Does anyone have any marriage info on this couple....Do you know of anyone that is doing research on the Harbert line that might shed some light on this? I will be happy to share what info I do have on this line. Best Regards, -- Tom Courtney tomone@flash.net -- Tom & Theresa Courtney tomone@flash.net

    3. Thank you, David. I knew I could count on you! I appreciate you taking the time to look that up. Now, does anyone know what happened to the William Brandon listed in the 1860 Hardin Co. census? Was he a relative of Calvin Brandon, who I believe ended up in Arkansas? Tracy

    3. Tracy, Phillip lived in the 6th C. D. while Calvin and William lived in the 8th C. D., but not close together. Calvin lived in the middle of a family of Austins and Quallses. In one direction there was: Henry Austin, William Lloyd, and Henry Qualls. Nancy Austin, 64 Va lived with Henry Qualls. In the other direction you have: William Austin, William Qualls, A. J. Lamb, John Austin and Stephen Austin. Neighbors to William were: Froby Roan, David Hudson, James Matthews and Robert Stout. In the other direction was: Emsby Tacker, Mary Prescott, Thomas McGee, and Jacob Myers. David Thomas Enterprises wrote: > Hi y'all! 3. Hi y'all! Is there anyone out there who could do a lookup for me in the 1860 census of Hardin Co.? I would like to know what districts Calvin BRANDON, age 33, and William BRANDON, age 46, were enumerated in and also the names of the neighbors listed on either side of these two families in the census. I am trying to find out what happened to the family of Philip BRANDON who I believe is listed as Philip BRANNON in the 1850 and 1860 census. He had a wife, Melinda and several young children living in Hardin Co. when the Civil War started. He joined the Union forces and remarried in Nashville in November of 1864. What happened to Melinda and the children? I don't know about Calvin, but there may be a connection between William and Philip. They are close enough in age to have been brothers. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks a bunch! Tracy Brandon-Thomas

    1. [TNHARDIN-L] Joanna E. Gill White
    2. David Cagle
    3. Joanna was the daughter of George and Susannah E. Gill who lived in the 5th C. D. of Hardin Co., in 1850. She was married to a neighbor, William Jackson White, of Flat Gap in Hardin Co., TN. on 23 February 1854. In 1860 they lived in the 2nd C. D. of Wayne Co., TN with three children: Americas L., 5; William A., 3; and Emily J., age 1 year. On 29 September 1866, William died, perhaps as the hands of bushwhackers in the time of lawlessness following the Civil War. In 1870, Joanna E. White, age 40, DE-4, is living in Decatur County Tennessee as shown by an index of the heads of Households for Tennessee. Have any of you White researchers copied this census information re Joanna White. I would like to know numbers and names and ages of children etc. If you have a lost White in Hardin Co., perhaps I can help. Thanks, David
