The names Boroughs, Gray, Smith, and Love all are all familiar to me. Since my father's paternal grandmother was a Love, and his maternal grandmother was a Smith, I was wondering which lines you are researching. My Grandfather had a brother who married Margaret Gray. My grandmother had an aunt (Anna Smith) who married Ward Boroughs. Any connection? Thanks, Joyce White Jones At 08:38 PM 2/6/99 -0600, you wrote: >J. Nancy, The answer is greener pastures. Nearly all families had 8 or 10 kids. There was not enough land to support them when each child started a family of their own. Land was cheap and unsettled in AR and MO and other places west. Do you know Tom Courtney? He is a descendent of the Courtneys in this area. Sarah Wade, a sister of David Hampton Wade, is my g/g/g/grandmother. She married Milton Whitlow in the 1830's. Following is some Courtney information. Anyone have information on an Alexander Payne who married Jane Daughtery (Daugherty) ? Need marriage date and children. Probable birth dates around 1800-1810. Ed Oldaker
Does anyone have a reason why families would pick up and leave Hardin Co. Tenn. in the early 1850s. I have my great great grand father David Hampton Wade and family, there were about 20 of them men, woman and children, his brother-in-law William Moseley and famliy, They were all in Hardin Co.1850s and travled to Wright Co. Also others to the list other than the PINSON list, please read, as this involves surname searches in your area also. Maybe you can help me. Reply to Debbie<jake@ro.com> Sending to: Hardin, Wayne, McNairy and Lincoln Co., TN, Lauderdale Co., AL, also Austin and Pinson lists. At least from me you're lucky. I have saved ALL e-mail from you to me and me to you, and MOST of it all from the Pinson mailing list. Let me know if you want me to forward you any/all e-mails we've done privately, and if you want any copies of any of the Pinson mailing list e-mails. I am descended from Aaron Jr. and Delilah Stovall. Their daughter Dorcas married Stephen Austin, and that is where I have thousands of names of info. Dorcas and Stephen are buried at Hollands Creek Cem., Hardin Co., TN. One of their daughters Rebecca Austin married a James Gray and their family went from Lincoln Co., TN to Wayne Co., TN. I have recently gathered a WHOLE LOT MORE of info on that line, so my Austin/Pinson line got a lot bigger. One of the things I'm researching on right now is; there were PINSON and STOVALL families in Wayne Co., TN, and I have found them in McNairy Co., TN. These two counties are separated by Hardin Co. where Dorcas (Pinson) Austin was, but I haven't been able to tie any of these lines into mine. I will be posting it to the involved mailing lists soon, to see if anyone can help me connect these families to my Pinson line. Another thing I need help with: My Aaron Pinson Sr. & Elizabeth Rambo family group. The info I got years ago was info from the research of Janet Austin Curtis, who was researching the AUSTIN lines. I have no information on Aaron. Sr. and Elizabeth other than the info on Aaron Jr. and his family group. From what I have researched at the library, I have a lot of loose PINSON names and marriages, but I don't know to which father they had. I would really like more info. on Aaron. Sr. and any other children he had. I hope I can connect with others that are working on this line also. I am hoping to get all new family group files to my web pages in the next couple of weeks, which with the above lines and many others from the above locations will be over 20,000 names if I can get it uploaded. My database is over 80,000 names, but I am only going to be a able to post all of MY ancestors lines for now. GenMaster Debbie Cossey Wasserburger Huntsville, AL

Helen, Shannons Landing is located on the north side of the Tennessee River a mile or two upstream from Clifton Tennessee which is located on the south side of said river. I believe this to be near the location of Shannonsville which was in that part of Hardin County that was ceded to Perry Co. in 1823, and is now located in Decatur which was cut from Perry in 1845. Some of the Shannons settled at Point Pleasant and were the first settlers to build a house at Saltillo in 1825. Rena, Saw your message. Are you talking about the same David Walker who resided later at Christian Co., MO? As you probably know, Christian Co. was formed from Greene Co. during the 1850s, if I remember correctly. David Walker was a sheriff there and resided in a community called Linden, northeast of Ozark. I remember him because it's said he was the leader of the bushwackers. Also, my own family lived there at the same time and are buried in the abandoned Walker-Gardner cemetery at Linden. Lastly, there was a wagon train that came out of TN to S.W. MO, and some of the Linden families came with it. Same man, or same family as yours?
