It is thought they might have had a daughter named, JEAN JONES. 1880 Perry Co., TN, Census, Civ.Dist. 5, ED 145, Sheet 5, Line 10, Enumeratred with MARY A. HOWELL (Flora's grandmother). Thanks, Tom Evans (OoliticIN@aol.com)
Robyn, Right is a sharp turn in the road about half way between Coffee Landing and Morris Chapel. One old store still remains, but has been out of business as long as I can remember. Probably the 40's. If you look at a Rand McNally Road Atlas, Right is on the road from Savannah to Morris Chapel, about half way between the Tennessee River and Morris Chapel. from Hardin Countians in the 19th Century, A Supplement to Hardin County's People compiled by Tony Hays 1986 ".....Enrolled at Savannah in October of 1861, the company was commanded by Captain Charles S. Robertson, a local lawyer. They went into camp at Jackson, Tennessee. Six months later , they were with the force commanded by Albert Sidney Johnston which attacked Grant at Pittsburgh Landing from Corinth, Mississippi. Again, they fell back into camp and were then ordered to Chattanooga. After this they went to Perryville, Kentucky. It appears that the next battle was at Murfreesboro. They were surrendered at the little town of Sumpterville, Alabama in 1865." My gggrandfather Theodore Phylander BARNHILL was in this company. He was wounded at the battle of Shiloh, got separated from the group and met up with them later. His brothers William, James and a John i believe were also in the company. A book called "Tennesseans in the Civil War, A Military History of Confederate and Union Units with Available Rosters of Personnel" 1964. also has the company in the Battle of Chickamauga as part of A.A. Russell's Brigade, General W.T. Martin's Division, Wheeler's Cavalry corps. This battle took place after the battle at Shelbyville where most or all of the officers and the majority of the troops were killed or captured.;292 prisoners were sent to Camp Douglas, Illinois in June 1863. They participate in the Atlanta Campaign and the invasion of Tennessee with General John B. Hood. Surrendered at Gainesville, Alabama on May 12,1865. Muster rolls were lost with General Wheeler's train during the last campaign in North Carolina. Next: Roster as given by J.M. Porterfield in June of 1880 with annotations by the compiler.

Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness Movement: a way to find what you need in any county of the United States at cost- just pass it on! This movement was begun by the Coordinators and researchers of the Stewart County, Tennessee TnGenweb site, but it is a movement for genealogists everywhere...and one we hope will grow very rapidly....and it is! Basically, it is not a great deal different from what internet researchers do every single day in great unselfish acts...sharing of information...BUT it has one decided difference. THE VOLUNTEERS OF THIS MOVEMENT ARE AGREEING ONCE PER MONTH TO EITHER VIDEOTAPE CEMETERIES (Homeplaces, etc.) OR DO LOOK-UPS OF INFORMATION IN THE COUNTY or area of a COUNTRY (IF OTHER THAN U.S.A.) THEY LIVE WHETHER OR NOT THEY HAVE ANCESTRAL TIES. Because the idea is that a person can spare one time per month to go out into the area they live to unselfishly provide information to another far from home, this makes volunteering and giving of oneself much easier-it also means that if we can obtain one person living in each county of the United States, as well as folks from other countries, to volunteer for this once per month, our odds of obtaining what we need anywhere we need to look go up tremendously! Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness

No, Rachel (John W. Morrow's wife) was C.C. Harlan's half-sister. C.C.Harlan and Rachel Baird were both children of Cynthia Sweeton Harlan Baird. And thanks so much for the information on the Archives records. I will have to get a copy of these!! The name Cynthia (Sweeton) Harlan is a familiar one to me. I didn't realize she had remarried. I started working on my family history last year during a trip to D.C. I went back last month and found the military records for my 2nd(?) Great Grandfather, C.C. Harlan. In the pension records I found mention of a first marriage for C. C. to Mary Christian. There were a couple of records stating that Mary had died, one was from J.W. Morrow and R.M Morrow testifying to the death of Mary Harlan, it says that her remains were brought to their house for burial in the old family burying ground, and was buried there. J.W. was 74 and R.M. was 65. They were help helpful in the pension application process. So let me get this straight- J.W. would be C. C. Harlan's Step father? Sandy Vicky Hutchings wrote: > J.W. J.W. Morrow was my 2nd great grandfather. His wife, Rachel Baird was the daughter of James and Cynthia (Sweeton) Baird. Cynthia, prior to marrying James Baird, was married to Ellis Sanders Harlan. Their children were Felix Grundy Harlan, Christopher C. Harlan, Dreton Sweeton Harlan, Alexander R. Harlan and Joseph B. Harlan. I am curious as to how you know that she was in the home of J.W. before her death? More than likely she was buried in the Morrow cemetery. In the 1860 census, she and her husband were listed in Hardin Co. with 3 children, Felix, Sarah and Dalton. I'm curious about Mary and what happened to the children. C.C. Harlan later married Viola Valentine of MS, but there is no mention of Felix, Dalton or Sarah. If anybody could shed some light, I'd appreciate it. Sandy
